Executive Director for The Aidan Project
The Aidan Project
Job Title: Executive Director
Location: Remote (Familiarity with Kansas City strongly preferred)
About The Aidan Project
The Aidan Project is a small but growing nonprofit based in Kansas City, dedicated to ensuring every child with a developmental delay in the area has access to early intervention services. Through proactive engagement, scholarship provisions, and advocacy efforts, The Aidan Project connects families with necessary resources, facilitates access to therapy for children, and advocates for the importance of early evaluation and intervention.
Position Overview
The Executive Director will be the organization’s first full-time hire and will play a key role in building and leading the organization through its next phase of growth. This is a dynamic, hands-on leadership role that requires someone who is both visionary and practical—ready to build infrastructure, lead strategy, and manage day-to-day operations.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with nonprofit experience, who is energized by the opportunity to build, evolve, and lead. This person should be comfortable navigating ambiguity, making decisions independently, and collaborating closely with the Board of Directors and external partners.

- Identify and manage relationships with donors, funders, and partners
- Coordinate third-party grant writing efforts and ensure strong stewardship of funding relationships

We’re seeking someone who brings a blend of purpose, pragmatism, and possibility—someone who sees this not just as a role, but as an opportunity to build something meaningful.
Core Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience in nonprofit leadership or related fields (experience with early childhood or developmental services a plus)
- Demonstrated success in fundraising, partnership-building, and operational management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; confident engaging a range of audiences
- Proven ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a dynamic, evolving environment
- A mission-driven builder: You’re deeply connected to the cause and excited to grow something from the ground up

- Emotionally intelligent and self-aware: You seek feedback, know your strengths, and collaborate with humility
- Positive, proactive, and resilient: You bring energy to challenges and don’t wait around for someone else to take the lead
- Resourceful and adaptable: You thrive in ambiguity, learn quickly, and can figure things out without a roadmap
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience
