Raytown Educational Foundation Executive Director

About Us:
Established in 1992, the Raytown Educational Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing grants, scholarships, and programs to recognize students and staff in Raytown Quality Schools.

 

Position Description:
The Raytown Educational Foundation Executive Director is responsible for directing, managing, and coordinating all aspects of the Raytown Educational Foundation according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Trustees and governed by its bylaws. 


Position Responsibilities: 

Development
  • Build relationships with donors, staff members, parents, alumni community and business leaders and other nonprofit organizations.
  • Research funding sources and oversee the development of fundraising plans.
  • Work with the Board of Trustees to determine annual giving goals and create strategies to achieve the goals.
  • Manage and coordinate special events and develop new events and activities. 

Communications 
  • Act as spokesperson for the foundation and represent the foundation at community activities.
  • Establish good working relationships with school district personnel to increase employee payroll deductions and participation in foundation programs.
  • Oversee foundation publicity and communication vehicles including marketing materials, website, social media, annual report, and media relations. 

Operational Planning & Management
  • Participate with the Board of Trustees to develop a strategic plan and provide leadership in implementing the plan.
  • Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the foundation.
  • Manage the support personnel and/or contracted services associated with the operation of the foundation.
  • Oversee and manage all foundation programs. 

Financial Planning & Management
  • Collaborate with school district business personnel regarding program funds and employee payroll deduction accounting.
  • Administer the financial affairs of the foundation including financial records, controls and documentation, budgeting, IRS documentation, and investments as directed by the Finance Committee. 

*This position may at times be required to perform other duties or special projects as needed, which are in the best interest of the Raytown Educational Foundation.

 

Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor's degree is desired. Applicable experience can be substituted in place of formal education for candidates not currently holding a degree. 
  • 5-10 years of experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, education, or related fields is desired. 
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evening hours.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with QuickBooks, Google, and donor software is desired. 
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, public speaking and presentation skills. 
  • Leadership and management skills to work effectively with the Board of Trustees, donors, school administrators and faculty, community and business leaders, media, volunteers, and staff. 
  • Ethics, integrity, and an ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in a responsible manner. 
  • Must be able to pass a credit and background check.
