Director of Finance

SUMMARY OF POSITION
This is an excellent opportunity for a skillful, high energy, team oriented individual. There are some routine or repetitive tasks, however interruptions are common and the ability to juggle many different tasks simultaneously is essential. The successful person will have strong attention to detail and exactness as well as an inquisitive drive. The role requires an approachable style with a positive attitude. The ideal incumbent will have ability to multi-task with excellent oral and written communication skills, including interfacing with internal operational groups, staff across multiple locations and external vendors.  Must be able to make an immediate contribution within the Finance Department, as this is a fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS

  • Managing organization’s accounting operations and auditing functions, while overseeing the preparation of financial reports.
  • Performing analysis in an effort to provide organization with meaningful information to make educated economic decisions.
  • Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and AD-Hoc projects.
  • Performing month-end review and variance analysis of financial accounts/statements.
  • Managing/coordinating completion of annual financial audit, 990, Cost Report, and FFR.
  • Overseeing preparation and posting of journal entries.
  • Evaluating accounting and internal control environment.
  • Performing month-end reconciliations to ensure accuracy of accounts.
  • Assisting with completion of monthly financial packet along with any other financial reports/dashboards.
  • Overseeing inventory/tracking process of fixed assets within the organization.
  • Supporting the Payroll Administration function, ensuring payroll is processed in a timely manner with accurate recording of wages and benefits.

  • Accepting and using supervision, direction and consultation to maximize available resources in the completion of work duties.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed to maintain and improve effective functioning of the department and to advance the mission of the organization.
  • All job responsibilities will be carried out under the direction of the organization’s policies and procedures.
 REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency to meet deadlines.

  1. Possess superior organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  2. Maintain confidentiality, discretion and confidential records.
  3. Reliably and timely respond to phone and email correspondence.
  4. Be self-motivated, assertive and proactive in driving tasks to completion with minimal supervision.
  5. Display proficiency in use of personal computers and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)
  6. Exhibit a professional and respectful demeanor.
  7. Work successfully independently and within a team.
  8. Demonstrate excellent customer service, helpfulness, and a positive attitude.
  9. Demonstrate social and cultural sensitivity to ethically and economically diverse patients and staff.
  10. Hold current drivers’ license and acceptable driving record and reliable transportation.
  11. Travel to all parts of the facility and network of Wyandotte County clinic locations.
 PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Master’s and/or CPA certification.
  • Health care experience with Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) experience.
  • Experience in grant accounting.
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

  • Employment is contingent upon successful clearance from Criminal, Kansas and Missouri Child/Elder Abuse and Neglect, Sex Offender background investigations, TB testing, pre-employment drug testing, and verification of Hepatitis-B, flu and COVID-19 immunizations.
  • Occasional evening and weekend availability is required.

Job Type: Full Time

Salary Range: $100,000 and over
