Health Information Coordinator
Pay: $27.00 - $32.00 per hour

Health Information Coordinator
About Us:
Village Shalom is a premier senior living community dedicated to providing exceptional care and a vibrant living experience for residents.
Position Description:
The Health Information Coordinator is responsible for maintaining resident health records according to policies and procedures established for the record-keeping practices of the facility to assure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with State and Federal regulations.
Qualifications:
- Must have a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification
- Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Two (2) years of previous experience in the health field preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
To succeed in the position, the Health Information Coordinator must have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to work independently and organize workload
- Good clerical and computer skills including typing, filing, and data entry
- Must be accurate and attentive to detail
- Must have strong organizational and time management skills
- Must have a desire to work with the elderly
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA
- Familiarity with medical records software
Responsibilities:
- Assemble records for new admissions and maintain resident identification on forms.
- Report missing data to the Director of Nursing and Medical Director
- Obtain transfer information when residents are transferred from other facilities and file appropriately
- Audit records of new admissions according to established criteria
- Label active records for allergies and NO CPR code status
- Maintain, log, and control the release of resident information to authorized individuals
- Maintain answers On Demand computer file for statistical purposes and for tracking admissions discharge
- Monitor Medicare certification
- Audit charts and report finding/needs to the DON and Medical Director
- Process, assemble, audit, and prepare summaries for discharges
- Assist with the collection of data for the QA committee
- Responsible for all physician orders, including ensuring all orders are filed appropriately
- Collect, mail, and distribute monthly Physician Order Sheets
- Maintain and file records of medication disposal
- Audit charts for needed assessments report findings to the Director of Nursing
- Maintain and print daily census and distribute appropriately
- Demonstrate a leadership role in the Answers on Demand electronic medical record implementation and management, including physician orders
- Maintain medical records in a precise and accurate manner
- Make medical records available to be retrieved at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing or Medical Director
