Part-Time Christian Therapist

Position Summary
The Part-Time Christian Therapist provides on-site, trauma-informed therapy for adult survivors of childhood trauma and sexual violence. They are compassionate, a strong critical thinker, and firmly rooted in their Christian faith, integrating it thoughtfully into their practice. As part of a team offering a holistic, whole-person approach, they work independently while collaborating with staff to support clients’ spiritual, emotional, and relational restoration, helping them build resilience and reclaim their lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct Client Therapy:
    Conduct trauma-responsive, in-person therapy sessions for adult survivors of childhood trauma and sexual violence, integrating spiritual care where appropriate.
  • Client Assessment & Goal Setting:
    Meet with clients to identify and clarify specific areas where they desire healing, guidance, or clarity. Collaborate with clients to establish therapeutic goals and monitor progress.
  • Transition Support:
    Help clients determine when they are ready to transition from therapy into mentoring programs, coordinating with Restorative Mentors and other staff to ensure a smooth and supportive transition.
  • Treatment Planning & Documentation:
    Maintain accurate and confidential client records, create individualized treatment plans, and ensure compliance with professional and organizational standards.
  • Collaboration & Consultation:
    Work closely with the Director of Restorative Services and other staff to align therapy services with organizational programs and mission. Participate in team meetings, program development discussions, and occasional supervision or consultation.
  • Crisis Intervention & Support:
    Provide support in crisis situations following professional standards and organizational policies.
  • Organizational Culture & Spiritual Support:
    Promote a safe, supportive, and spiritually nurturing environment for clients. Model healthy professional practices for staff and contribute to a positive, trauma-informed workplace culture.
 

Qualifications
Required:
  • Must hold an independent clinical license (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent) in the state of Missouri.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience providing therapy to adult survivors of childhood trauma and sexual violence.
  • Strong ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with staff.
  • Strong commitment to Christian values and ability to appropriately integrate faith into therapy.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Experience in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and culturally competent therapy practices.
  • Must reside in the Kansas City area or nearby with reliable transportation.
Preferred:
  • Master’s or higher degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, Psychology, or related field.
  • Experience in faith-based or nonprofit settings.
  • Prior work with survivors of sexual exploitation, child abuse or trafficking.
  • Familiarity with community resources, systems, and referral processes.

Schedule & Availability
  • Part-time, on-site only at Tiffany Springs (KCMO, Northland).
  • Hours to be agreed upon with the Director of Restorative Services.
  • Must work exclusively with Value Unconditional clients when on-site.
