Recruiting Specialist, Youth Development
The Recruiting Specialist manages high-volume hiring needs for before and after school programs, early learning programs, and seasonal positions. Responsibilities include sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, checking references, and coordinating hiring events. This role plays a key part in ensuring the Y’s programs are staffed with caring, qualified, and mission-driven individuals who create safe, engaging environments for youth to learn, grow, and thrive.

Hiring Range: $55,000-$60,000 Annual Salary

Responsibilities:
Talent Acquisition & Outreach
- Source, screen, and interview candidates for designated positions within our before and after school programs, early learning programs, and summer day camp.
- Partner with VP, People to develop and implement year-round recruiting strategies to attract a diverse pipeline of candidates for youth development roles across all program sites.
- Build relationships with schools, universities, workforce development programs, and community organizations to increase awareness of YMCA employment opportunities.
- Build and maintain a continuous pipeline of quality candidates through job boards, social media, community partnerships, hiring events and direct outreach focused on youth development positions.
- Use creative sourcing methods (social media, digital marketing, referrals, partnerships) to attract top talent for seasonal and year-round positions.
- Represent the YMCA at job fairs, community events, and networking functions to promote hiring opportunities.
- Creatively write and manage job postings for internal and external audiences that engage applicants. Maintain and source job postings in applicant tracking system.
- Obtain and compile competitor market data to enhance sourcing strategies.
Hiring & Selection
- Partner with youth development leadership to understand workforce needs and seasonal hiring demands.
- Screen applicants, coordinate interviews, and support hiring managers in the selection process to ensure consistent standards and a positive candidate experience.
- Coordinate and conduct reference check process for youth development services to ensure compliance with established standards.
- Maintain accurate applicant tracking, candidate relationship management, and recruitment records.
- Assist in developing interview questions for common job groups to reflect hiring managers' needs.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Provide a positive candidate experience from application through onboarding, ensuring candidates are moved through the hiring process in a timely and efficient manner.
- Develop and deliver training on program-specific community sourcing and recruiting processes.
- Leverage system metrics and reporting tools to analyze sourcing effectiveness, candidate experience, and overall recruitment performance, using data to recommend improvements.
- Expert user of applicant tracking system. Trains and provides support to hiring managers on system.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum two years of experience in recruiting, onboarding, or Human Resources, experience in high-volume, seasonal hiring preferred.
- Excellent research/sourcing skills and demonstrated experience with multiple sourcing techniques and leveraging social media and recruitment marketing tools and channels.
- A high degree of initiative with the ability to think proactively and problem-solve.
- Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions.
- Able to make independent and sound decisions in a fast paced environment.
- Able to exercise high levels of discretion and confidentiality.
- Detail oriented with good organizational skills, and be multi-task proficient.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to adapt to new software.
- Must have reliable transportation. Travel around the Greater Kansas City area is required.
