Managing Attorney

MANAGING ATTORNEY - ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT UNIT
KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI
 
The Economic Development Unit of Legal Aid of Western Missouri is seeking a full-time Managing Attorney for its Paseo Office in Kansas City, Missouri. This person will supervise the casework and other duties of the attorneys and support staff in this office, along with performing administrative functions required to comply with funding regulations. The Managing Attorney will work with neighborhood associations and local non-profit community development corporations on targeted community improvement initiatives. This position will focus on litigation with the target outcomes being blight remediation, affordable housing preservation, and community re-investment.  This position requires significant interaction with Kansas City neighborhoods, so local travel and some evening and weekend work will be required. 
 
The qualified candidate must have the following: 

  • Active Missouri Bar license or eligible for licensure in Missouri through reciprocity
  • Computer proficiency
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Desire and commitment to assist in the delivery of high-quality legal assistance
  • Courtroom experience required
  • Prior management experience is preferred, but not required
  • Ability to speak a second language, preferred, but not required
