Job Summary
The Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission, a historically vital public safety non-profit with a 501c3 status, established in 1949, is seeking an exceptional revenue generator and elite relationship builder to serve as our Director of Fundraising and Corporate Sponsorships.

This critical leadership role is responsible for driving the organizations over $3 million annual fundraising portfolio by cultivating high-value relationships with large corporate entities, foundations, and private partners.

While the Crime Commission operates four distinct community programs—each managed by its own dedicated Program Director and community advisory board—this position will align corporate philanthropy with our critical public safety mission. The Director of Fundraising and Corporate Sponsorships will collaborate intimately with an internal leadership team including a marketing professional assistant, an events professional assistant, and the SAFE Program Director (Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment Fund).

Key Responsibilities

  1. Corporate Sponsorship Procurement & Management
  • Identify and cultivate new corporate prospects across the Greater Kansas City region.
  • Pitch, negotiate, and secure multi-year corporate sponsorships, including event sponsorship donations and high-value underwriting opportunities for our core events.
  • Manage the donor movement cycle to convert transactional event table buyers into year-round philanthropic partners.
  • Take ownership with event fundraising to outline a pathway to revenue goals, and track pledges, invoices, and fulfilled receipts.
  • Identify, cultivate and steward prospective legacy donors.
2. Cross-Departmental Executive Collaboration, Teamwork & Advocacy
  • Work alongside the Directors of Crime Stoppers, Metropolitan Community Service Program (MCSP), SAFE (Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment Fund), and Second Chance to understand their impact metrics and financial gaps.
  • Leverage program data to build compelling, authentic cases for support that resonate with corporate boardrooms and major philanthropists.
  • Coordinate closely with Executive Director and the Board of Directors to engage their professional networks for warm introductions.

3. Signature Event Fundraising Collaboration and Teamwork
  • Partner with the KCMCC Marketing Coordinator to build custom sponsorship pitch decks, donor communication strategies, and public recognition assets that articulate a powerful return on investment (ROI) and deep community impact for corporate partners, including VIP table sponsors for our three marquee signature events:
Kansas City Guns and Hoses: Our premier high-energy charity boxing event at Municipal Auditorium hosting 5,000+ attendees.
The Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Luncheon: A prestigious high-level networking event gathering 600+ business leaders and law enforcement executives.
The Crime Stoppers Party at Arrowhead: An exclusive donor experience hosting 400 VIP guests featuring live and silent auctions at Arrowhead Stadium.
  • Coordinate with the KCMCC Events Coordinator to ensure sponsor deliverables (VIP seating, signage, printed and digital recognition, and premium auction benefits) are executed seamlessly on-site.
  • Embed with the Director of SAFE to deeply understand the program’s financial needs, survivor stories, and community impact, translating that data into powerful fundraising narratives.

Qualifications & Competencies
  • Experience: Preferred 5+ years of demonstrable success in non-profit corporate fundraising, corporate business development, or high-stakes B2B sponsorship sales.
  • Track Record: Proven ability to manage a multi-million-dollar revenue portfolio and secure five-figure corporate partnerships.
  • Regional Network: Established, deep connections within the Kansas City business ecosystem and/or regional law enforcement networks are highly advantageous.
  • Communication Skills: Polished executive presence; highly persuasive written and verbal communication skills tailored for interacting with CEOs, Chiefs of Police, and community leaders.
  • Donor CRM Platform Proficiency: Direct experience with a unified giving software platform is highly preferred.
  • Auction & Software Proficiency: Direct experience with charity auctions and specialized event-fundraising platforms (e.g., GiveSmart) is highly preferred.

The Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission is an equal opportunity employer.
