Nonprofit Connect seeks a creative, enthusiastic and strategic professional for the senior leadership role of Director of Communications and Marketing. The ideal candidate will own both strategy and execution, directing, managing and leading marketing campaigns to reach target audiences through a variety of platforms and channels (cause, digital, print, social and video). The goals of this role and all campaigns include brand awareness, membership recruitment and retention, community engagement, program/event promotion and advocacy calls-to-action. A successful candidate is collaborative, self-motivated, with a broad variety of marketing experience across channels, and thrives in the fast-paced, responsive learning environment of association management.
Key Responsibilities
The Director of Communications and Marketing will lead all aspects of communications and marketing for Nonprofit Connect, designing and implementing integrated campaign strategies across platforms. This includes communication within the organization and externally across our regional footprint.
Essential Job Functions
- Create and implement an annual marketing plan and content strategy in support of the association’s key programs, events and member benefits.
- Lead efforts to expand the Nonprofit Connect brand and messaging into both existing and new markets. Preserve the organization’s brand integrity by maintaining consistent, brand-focused presentation templates, continually updating branding and style guides, and ensuring adherence to visual identity standards.
- Oversee the WordPress website by creating new content and maintain ongoing site updates.
- Develop and execute content marketing (social media and email marketing) and campaigns across platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook (Meta), Instagram, YouTube, X (formally Twitter) and Constant Contact.
- Plan and manage digital communication content calendar to maximize participation in events and programs.
- Research, write, or produce blogs, vlogs, and/or podcasts in collaboration with staff and/member organizations, to tell member stories.
- Design all print collateral, coordinate printing and distribution for programs, special events, reports, and guides.
- Identify audiences and pull/manage segmented lists in Constant Contact or GrowthZone (CRM) for focused marketing efforts.
- Analyze and use marketing data and metrics to continually optimize marketing impact from website analytics, email marketing metrics, and social media campaign insights.
- Coordinate, develop, produce, and edit video vignettes, reels, and short stories for the
- Help manage vendor relationships related to marketing/communications production and projects.
- Work closely with all departments to ensure the marketing and communication needs of members, sponsors, volunteers, funders and business partners are effectively addressed.
- Maintain and ensure compliance of the agency’s brand standards and style guide.
Supervision & Management
- This position reports to the President & CEO.
- This position does not supervise or provide direct management of other staff roles
Qualifications
We are seeking a well-versed communications and marketing professional with demonstrated knowledge and experience in communications, graphic design, marketing, social content management, project management, copy writing and video production.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in marketing, communications, graphic design or project management.
- Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite or Canva, Constant Contact (or other email platform), WordPress, GrowthZone (or other database), as well as video software familiarity.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks accordingly, and is deadline-oriented to produce on all expected deliverables.
- Extraordinary interpersonal skills, exemplifying diplomacy, tact, and professionalism.
- Commitment to the mission and values of the nonprofit sector.
- Experience in the nonprofit or association management sector is a plus.
Other Key Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service and a commitment to high caliber of quality work product.
- May assist with program facilitation, deliver content or teach subject matter, as deemed appropriate based on the topic.
- Support organization events and programs through in-person attendance, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned and necessary.
Salary and Benefits
- The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000.
- The position offers full benefits, including 100% employer-paid health (dental, vision, life, and long-term disability) insurance for employee, paid holidays, generous PTO policy and 3% retirement contribution match.
