Strategy Specialist, Brand & Content
Location: Kansas City, MO
 
Reporting to the Director, Brand Marketing & Content Strategy, the Strategy Specialist is responsible for ensuring our multi-channel marketing strategy and our execution aligns with larger marketing objectives and brand standards. They will collaborate with the director on writing strategic marketing plans using our owned, earned, and paid channels and will be responsible for trend and audience research, as well as writing strategic briefs. They will collaborate with an internal team of copywriters, photographers, designers, marketing technology specialists, and project managers on creative execution to ensure tactics align with top level strategies.
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Strategic Planning & Execution: Develop and implement strategic marketing plans for campaigns across owned, earned, and paid channels. Analyze data to set KPIs and decisions on tactics and timing.
  2. Strategic Brief Development: Create detailed strategic briefs to guide the internal creative team, ensuring tactical execution aligns with set objectives. Review and approve creative work based on strategy and performance data.
  3. Social Media Strategy & Management: Lead social media strategy and day-to-day implementation across platforms, conducting trend research and optimizing content efforts to maximize engagement.
  4. Content Coordination & Scheduling: Oversee a multi-channel content calendar, coordinating with internal teams to ensure content supports strategic themes and goals across social media, email, and website platforms.
  5. Partnership & Influencer Collaboration: Coordinate marketing strategies and implement initiatives with partner organizations. Manage outreach to influencers, securing content placement for museum events and programming.
  6. Decision-Making & Leadership: Lead various brand & content projects, providing recommendations and lending expertise in discussions with other stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational goals, along with successful execution of marketing strategies.
  7. Other: Complete other duties as assigned for general support of the division and organization, including variety of ad hoc marketing needs requiring independent decision-making.
CORE CAPABILITY REQUIREMENTS
Education/
Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in brand strategy or content marketing.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage and execute digital and social media platforms with a preference for experience with paid media strategies.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to read analytical reports on performance and glean actionable insights.
  • Perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements Working conditions are typically that of an office environment. Work primarily at a desk, use a PC and perform with frequent interruptions and/or distractions. Involves significant computer and screen time. Regular use of hands and fingers to operate a computer, phone, and other office equipment. The ability to read, interpret, and analyze various content and documents on a screen. Minimal lifting requirements, typically less than 10 lbs. Occasional standing or walking during presentations, conferences, or meetings.The ability to attend on-site meetings/events within the museum and museum properties.
Hours/Travel Expectations
Monday to Friday work week. May occasionally work nights, weekends, and holidays to complete work assignments (e.g. social media responses) and/or to attend work-related events/programs.
