Member Engagement Manager
Member Engagement Manager
Reports to: Communications DirectorCompensation: $24/hour. This is a full time, non-exempt position with an excellent benefits package, including a 401(k).

Position Summary
The Member Engagement Manager leads initiatives that connect, retain, and grow the National Auctioneers Association (NAA) membership community. This position serves as the primary relationship builder for members — fostering meaningful engagement through programs, outreach, and personalized service that enhance the member experience and strengthen the NAA community.This role oversees NAA’s membership and serves as the staff liaison for the Community Cornerstone and plays a direct role in renewal outreach and member retention. Working collaboratively across departments, the Member Engagement Manager ensures that members feel informed, valued, and inspired to engage in the life of the association and that the membership of the NAA continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
Member Engagement & Retention
- Develop and implement a member engagement strategy focused on retention, renewal, and participation in NAA programs.
- Personally contact members with past-due renewals, assist with payment or benefit questions, and document outcomes to improve retention tracking.
- Oversee onboarding and orientation of new members, ensuring a strong start and clear understanding of NAA benefits.
- Identify opportunities for increased member involvement through committees, volunteer roles, and online communities.
- Support member recognition programs, awards, and initiatives that celebrate longevity and achievement.
- Manage the NAA membership email account and act as first responder to member calls/inquiries.
- Manage the election process, communication, and systems before, during, and after the election, including close communication with the CEO
Community Cornerstone and Task Force Liaison
- Serve as staff liaison to the Community Cornerstone, ensuring strong coordination between volunteer leaders and staff.
- Schedule and support committee meetings, agendas, and follow-up, helping volunteers advance initiatives that build community and member value.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reports related to Community Cornerstone activities and outcomes.
- Organize and lead all community conversations. Identify speakers and topics. Coordinate with marketing manager to promote to NAA members.
Member Experience
- Partner with Events & Education staff to promote participation in conferences, summits, and education programs.
- Collaborate with the Communications Director to ensure timely and targeted member messaging.
- Help design and execute engagement activities at NAA events that connect members with one another and with staff.
- Collect and share member feedback to inform program development and strategic planning.
- Responsible for planning and executing new member sessions/experiences at Conference and Show.
Data, Reporting & Systems
- Oversee accuracy and functionality of the association management system (AMS). Responsible for updating member records.
- Responsible for executing member dues billing.
- Maintain membership dashboards and regularly report on growth, renewals, retention, and engagement trends.
- Use data insights to identify high-value segments, at-risk members, and opportunities for targeted outreach.
Auction Schools
- Serve as point of contact for auction schools nationwide.
- Mail NAA promotional materials to schools and conduct follow up with auction school students.
NextGen Program Coordination
- Partner with the Programs Manager to co-lead the NextGen program, supporting engagement, event planning, and leadership development for youth and early-career professionals.
Grievances and Brand Use
- Monitor grievance form and send initial response to submitter. Collect information and forward to CEO.
- Responsible for sending cease and desist to those who use the NAA logo who are not dues paying members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
- 4–6 years of experience in membership, community engagement, or customer relations — association or nonprofit experience preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Experience with membership databases (AMS or CRM) and data management.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholder relationships.
- Energetic, personable, and comfortable making direct outreach calls to members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing volunteer programs.
- Familiarity with engagement analytics, dashboards, or survey tools.
- Knowledge of association membership marketing and communications best practices.
- Understanding of the auction or event-based industries a plus.
Environmental/Physical Qualifications
- Must be able to lift boxes up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Must be able to spend extended periods of time in front of computer screen.
- Must be able to spend long amounts of time on your feet on concrete occasionally.
- Must be able to work in office and remotely, including during event travel.
- All physical requirements listed can be accommodated based on respective limitations of incumbent.
Performance Indicators
- Increased overall member retention and renewal rates.
- Active participation growth in Community Cornerstone initiatives.
- Timely and effective follow-up with all past-due members.
- Timely and effective follow-up with new members. Consistently lead new members through one-year new member engagement funnel.
- Positive feedback from members and volunteer leaders on engagement and responsiveness.
- Accurate, actionable membership data supporting strategic decision-making.
