Community Impact & Liaison

Marlene’s Kaleidoscope is seeking a dedicated, high-energy leader to serve as our Community Impact Liaison. This is a newly established operational role for a proactive, relational leader who will work side by side with the Executive Director to advance our mission and strengthen our community presence.

You will serve as the primary Liaison between our organization and the community—building trust, connecting neighbors to resources, and ensuring that outreach activities and internal operations run smoothly. This is a boots-on-the-ground leadership role for someone who can manage both logistics and relational engagement.

As the Operational Lead, this role is empowered to lead day-to-day execution, represent the organization publicly, and support continuity when the Executive Director is unavailable. This role focuses on coordination, leadership, and organizational impact rather than ongoing individual case management. 

This is an independent contractor position. The Contractor is not an employee of Marlene’s Kaleidoscope and is not entitled to employee benefits, including but not limited to health insurance, paid leave, or retirement benefits.

 

Primary Accountabilities

  • Strategic Liaison: Act as the official "bridge" between Marlene’s Kaleidoscope and the community, engaging directly with residents and businesses in a way that builds trust and respect.

  • Executive Proxy: Serve as the authorized lead and decision-maker for the organization in the absence of the Executive Director.

  • Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and direct a high-performing team of volunteers and future staff as the organization expands.

  • Program Execution: Lead the implementation of community outreach programs, including health fairs, resource distribution, and public advocacy events.

  • Respectful Community Engagement Advocate: Employ ethical, safe, and respectful community engagement practices.

  • Community Impact and Outreach Analysis: Track community impact and outreach outcomes to support reporting and learning.

Key Tasks & Duties

  • Community Engagement: Represent the organization at resource events and information fairs, acting as the lead point of contact for clients and partners.

  • Mission-Driven Storytelling: Proactively identify and communicate stories of impact from the field to support donor engagement and social media efforts.

  • Operations & Logistics: Take full ownership of organizing outreach materials, assembling resource packs, and leading the setup/tear-down of event stations (tents, tables, displays).

  • Administrative Support: Maintain the CRM (contact database) to track community partnerships and follow-ups. Good record keep

  • Resource Connection: Proactively identify community needs and connect members with additional social service or healthcare resources as needed.

Essential Competencies

  • Community Liaison: Strong relationship-building and community engagement skills. open-minded attitude in all community interactions.

  • Organizational Management: Ability to manage many moving parts, including scheduling, resource management, and customer service, with close attention to detail.

  • Solution-Oriented Leader: Takes ownership of tasks and solves problems independently using sound judgment and prioritization in a dynamic environment.

  • Professional Integrity and Confidentiality:  Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.

Position Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in outreach, community programming, or administrative leadership.

  • Certification: Enrollment in or completion of a Community Health Worker (CHW) certificate is a plus, but not a requirement.

  • Bilingual Skills: Spanish speaking is a plus, but not a requirement.

  • Physical: Ability to lift and move event equipment (up to 25 lbs).

  • Availability: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends, to meet the community where they are.
