Director, Supply Chain

POSITION SUMMARY:
Successfully promotes and supports the mission of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas as guided by the Catholic Social Teachings through the leadership of the Hope Distribution Center and optimizing all aspects of the supply chain. The Director, Supply Chain will manage the procurement, transportation, storage, and distribution of goods and services to support Catholic Charities’ programs and operations. This position will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, efficient, and ethical movement of resources and goods in a cost-effective manner, while adhering to best practices in sustainability and compliance. The Director, Supply Chain will collaborate closely with internal teams, external partners, volunteers, and vendors to ensure that the right products are in the right place at the right time to meet the needs of Catholic Charities’ communities and stakeholders. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide leadership and direction for the daily operation of the Hope Distribution Center, ensuring the warehouse is appropriately staffed, equipment and facilities are in good repair and comply with all applicable standards and best practices, and inventories are effectively managed and controlled.
- Support the development of Catholic Charities’ strategic plan by developing and implementing supply chain strategies, policies, and procedures that align with Catholic Charities’ goals and mission.
- Manage end-to-end logistics of the Catholic Charities Food Strategy, including sourcing, transportation, warehousing, inventory management, and distribution, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness; serves as the internal central point-of-contact for all food orders.
- Oversee procurement of food, goods, and other materials from food banks, food suppliers, and bulk suppliers.
- Coordinate and manage the monthly Mass Food Distribution program and food drives, food rescue, grocery store drives, and other donation sources as needed.
- Lead efforts to identify, evaluate, and implement new technologies or processes that improve supply chain operations and reduce costs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, vendors, and service providers to ensure quality, timely delivery, and cost-effective solutions.
- Recruit, manage, and develop high performing teams of mission-centered staff and volunteers; ensure that all are duly trained in warehouse and safety procedures, policies, and applications associated with their job or volunteer assignment.
- Develop and manage the Hope Distribution Center and supply chain budget, ensuring that expenditures align with financial goals and Catholic Charities’ mission.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to supply chain costs, efficiency, and service levels.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, industry standards, and ethical guidelines for procurement, transportation, and warehousing.
- Design, implement, and maintain a safety program and ensure safety audits are performed regularly. Develop corrective action plans based on results of audit(s).
- Other duties and responsibilities as required by leadership.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

- Catholic Charities promotes a diverse workforce. writing including the use of social media or other digital technologies. - Complete VIRTUS training, background screening, drug testing, and any ongoing training as required.
- Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent; post-secondary or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field a plus.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in supply chain management, logistics, or procurement, preferably in a non-profit or mission-driven environment.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in managing a diverse, multi-disciplinary team and working across multiple functional areas.
- Proven track record in vendor management, cost control, and optimization of supply chain operations.
- Ability to analyze data, assess supply chain performance, and implement improvements based on insights.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively and strategically to solve complex logistics challenges.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to build strong relationships with vendors, partners, and internal teams.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Access preferred.
- Must have and/or able to pass DOT certification and Fork Lift Certification.
- Must have a valid Kansas or Missouri driver’s license. Must provide copy of driver’s license and proof of insurance.
- The position requires extensive walking in the warehouse and back and forth to the office. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Able to stand for long periods of time; may also be required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Must be able to bend, squat, and stretch to fulfill tasks.
- Work is primarily performed in a warehouse area where the worker is subject to temperature changes, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, and vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts and exposure to chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, and/or gases.
- Ability to work Saturdays as needed.
