Operations Director
Operations Director – Meals on Wheels of Lee’s Summit, Inc.

Compensation: $40,000–$50,000 annually, commensurate with experience

Meals on Wheels of Lee’s Summit (MOWLS) helps ensure that community members who face mobility or independence challenges have access to hot, nutritious meals delivered with care. Since 1974, we have served more than 670,000 meals through the generosity of volunteers and community partners. Our mission is simple: nourish both body and spirit through service.
Position Summary:
The Operations Director is responsible for coordinating the daily operations of our meal delivery program. This includes overseeing volunteer coordination, client data management, vendor collaboration, and administrative support for the Board. The role is supported by an active and engaged Board of Directors committed to providing guidance, resources, and encouragement to ensure your success.
Key Responsibilities: - Coordinate meal production and delivery with our licensed food service provider.
- Maintain the client database (Zippy Meals) and prepare weekly route packets.
- Manage volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, and scheduling.
- Perform accounting tasks in QuickBooks, including meal billing and reporting.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and manage community partnerships.
- Support appreciation events and communicate updates to the Board.
Qualifications: - High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
- Two or more years of experience in operations, customer service, or volunteer management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, QuickBooks, and database management.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, high confidentiality standards, and communication skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Meals on Wheels.
Additional Requirements:
This position splits time between a home office and the Lee’s Summit Medical Center (2100 SE Blue Parkway). Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, background check, and active car insurance are required.
