Development Operations Manager

Reports to: Vice President Development and Communications
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $62,000K (subject to change with experience and education)
Program: Resource Development
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Vice President of Development
Position Summary
The Development Operations Manager is a new position responsible for building, managing, and continuously improving the systems, processes, and data infrastructure that support effective fundraising. This role ensures that the Development team has accurate data, efficient workflows, and actionable insights to drive fundraising growth, donor engagement, and strong stewardship.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, systems-minded, and collaborative—someone who enjoys making complex fundraising operations run smoothly while supporting relationship-driven fundraising.

Key Responsibilities
Development Systems & Data Management
- Own and manage Blackbaud Raisers’ Edge
- Ensure data integrity and quality control
- Develop and document data entry standards and procedures
- Manage donor records, gift processing, acknowledgements and receipting workflows
- Oversee integrations between Blackbaud Raisers Edge and finance
- Produce regular reports on fundraising performance, donor trends, pipelines, and retention
- Build reporting dashboards for the Development team, agency leadership and the Board of Directors
- Support forecasting, goal-setting and campaign analysis
- Design and optimize Development workflows across annual giving, major gifts, grants, and events
- Identify operational gaps and recommend solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Create and maintain process documentation, timelines, and internal calendars
- Support cross-functional collaboration with finance, programs and operations
- Support fundraising campaigns, appeals, events, and donor stewardship efforts
- Manage development calendars and ensure deadlines are met
- Partner with frontline fundraisers to support moves management and portfolio tracking
- Ensure compliance with donor privacy standards and data protection policies
- Maintain gift documentation and audit-ready records
- Stay current on fundraising operations best practices and emerging tools
Required
- 3–5 years of experience in development operations, fundraising operations, or nonprofit data management
- Strong experience with nonprofit CRM/database systems, preferably Blackbaud Raisers’ Edge
- High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
- Advanced proficiency with Excel and reporting tools
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience supporting major gifts and/or fundraising
- Familiarity with financial reconciliation and gift accounting processes
- Experience creating board-level dashboards or CEO reports
- Ability to access multiple levels of the building.
- Responsible for client physical safety.
- Must understand and follow building security procedures.
- Business casual office attire.
- Exposure to childhood illnesses. Flu and COVID vaccination highly recommended.
- Exposure to sensitive client subject matter.
- Exposure to vicarious trauma.
- Therapy dog on site
