PROGRAM AND MARKETING COORDINATOR

Green Works in Kansas City is a nonprofit founded in 2007. We are dedicated to connecting kids with nature, fostering environmental stewardship, and empowering them to grow through outdoor experiences and mentorship. Our overall goal is for our students to grow into independent, resilient, and accountable adults who are actively engaged in protecting our natural resources and improving our community. We provide programming for youth in grades 4th - 10th who live in Jackson County.
 
We are seeking a highly organized Program and Marketing Coordinator with a passion for urban youth and nature. The Coordinator will work with our Program Director to manage program details and serve as a staff facilitator at the programs. The Coordinator will work with our Executive Director to assist with our on-line curriculum project, and manage our social media postings and quarterly newsletter. This position begins in the spring of 2025.
 
Qualifications
Required

Preferred
  • Undergraduate degree in Science, Education, Sociology, Social Work, Communication or other relevant field
Coordinator will need to pass a comprehensive background check and will be asked to supply several career and personal references.
 
Primary Responsibilities include:
  • Serve as a facilitator for ECOS Nature Club, ECOS On-Demand, Wild Kind, and Eco Lab programs. Attend all sessions as well as trainings and meetings.
  • Organize, manage and transport supplies for all programs, then return supplies back to the office. Plan and purchase snacks.
  • Create program materials including flyers, signs, handouts, and coordinate printing of the nature journal. Print forms and activity sheets for programs.
  • Take photos at all programs and provide to ED.
  • Assist with in-person recruitment and posting of flyers.
  • Plan ECOS Nature Club landing activities for each week.
  • Set up the program classrooms before each program begins.
  • Assist with the on-line curriculum development project.  
  • Create and implement regular social media posts on three platforms.
  • Create posters, marketing materials, signage, and social media flyers.
  • Work with ED to create and distribute quarterly e-mail newsletters.
Compensation and Hours – The Program and Marketing Coordinator is a contract position compensated at a rate of $22 -$26/hour depending on experience. The position begins in spring of 2025, as soon as a candidate is hired, and the background check is complete.
 
Hours range from 10 - 15 hours per week during the weeks of planning, student recruiting and scheduled classes, primarily September through June. No programs take place in July and August, as well as mid-December through mid-January.
