Program Assistant

Are you ready to advance in your career with an innovative nonprofit dedicated to community, science, and compassionate care? Center for Supportive Communities (CSC) is seeking a highly motivated, organized, persistent, and vibrant individual to join our dynamic team as a Program Assistant.

OVERVIEW

As CSC's Program Assistant, you will play an essential role in implementing, managing, and expanding our community programs to drive positive and sustainable change. This position requires strong administrative, supervisory, management, leadership, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to meaningfully contribute to our social media sites.

Responsibilities include implementing community programs; designing program enhancements; increasing program visibility; engaging with communities; recruiting, onboarding, training, and supervising AmeriCorps members and volunteers; maintaining records and documentation; monitoring intervention implementation; contributing to social media; planning and coordinating fundraising and other community events; and supporting staff, clients, and stakeholders.

DUTIES

Volunteer & AmeriCorps Member Management:

  • Develop and implement a recruitment and retention plan using best practices.
  • Recruit AmeriCorps members and volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Train and supervise AmeriCorps members and volunteers.
  • Maintain updated and secure personnel files and documentation.
  • Use an online volunteer and client management platform (Better Impact).
  • Engage AmeriCorps members and volunteers, offering ongoing guidance, support, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure adherence to program requirements, using persistent and timely communication techniques.
  • Provide other administrative support (e.g., entering data, preparing reports, creating schedules, updating documents).

Program Delivery:

  • Identify and establish new community partnerships and cultivate existing partnerships.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure effective and efficient program delivery.
  • Communicate with families, schools, and other community agencies.
  • Design and implement program enhancements and initiatives.
  • Ensure intervention fidelity and compliance with program requirements.
  • Create functional, engaging, and age-appropriate meeting activities for K-12 students.
  • Support program evaluation and data collection efforts.

Communications:

  • Assist in the design and implementation of a targeted marketing strategy (e.g., create social media posts and contribute to monthly newsletters) to promote programs.
  • Contribute to CSC's annual and quarterly reports.
  • Represent the organization at community events and meetings.
  • Conduct public speaking engagements to promote programs and engage stakeholders.

Fundraising and Event Planning and Coordination:

  • Develop and coordinate fundraising and other community events (e.g., coordinate event logistics such as scheduling meetings, establishing sponsorships, booking venues, and arranging transportation).
  • Secure in-kind and cash donations and resources to benefit K-12 students and their families.

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or relevant work experience

Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time-management skills with attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship development skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to take initiative and effectively manage people
  • Proficient computer skills (e.g., Microsoft 365, spreadsheets, social media, email communication, data entry)
  • Demonstrated experience in volunteer recruitment and management, program development and implementation, and project management
  • Strong public speaking skills and the ability to engage with diverse audiences
