Position:          Dotte Mobile Grocer Crew Member, Food Access Team
Reports to:      Program Manager, Food Access
FLSA:              Non-exempt; hourly
Hours:             Part-time, 18–24 hours per week, Tuesday through Friday, seasonal through 10/31/2025
Rate:                $18/hour, 8.5 hours of PTO usable at start, up to 23 hours in total of vacation accumulated over the season, 6 hours holiday pay each for Juneteenth and Independence Day.
 
Position Summary

Cultivate KC is seeking a Dotte Mobile Grocer Crew Member to join our Food Access Team. This position supports the daily operations of The Dotte Mobile Grocer program, expanding equitable access to affordable and fresh food in neighborhoods of Wyandotte County where such options are not abundantly available. Reporting to the Food Access Program Manager and working closely with the Dotte Mobile Grocer Specialist, the Crew Member will assist with daily mobile market operations, help ensure efficient set up and breakdown at community partner sites, and provide a welcoming, dignified shopping experience for all customers.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Assist with daily mobile market operations, including loading/unloading products at our storage warehouse and onto the Dotte Mobile Grocer vehicle, and timely set up and break down at community partner sites.
• Deliver excellent customer service, fostering a welcoming, adaptable, and inclusive environment.
• Handle cash and operate point-of-sale systems, including Square and TotilPay.
• Adhere to safe food handling and quality control procedures.
• Collaborate with the Dotte Mobile Grocer Specialist to maintain the safety and cleanliness of the Dotte Mobile Grocer vehicle.
• Serve as a backup driver for the Dotte Mobile Grocer program, which operates out of a Sprinter van.
• Participate in Program Team Meetings and All-Staff meetings (as available).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Team-oriented, with a willingness to collaborate and learn alongside others.
• Positive, adaptable, and able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Able to safely and repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs. on and off a raised Sprinter van.
• Clean driving record and ability to drive and safely operate a Sprinter van (does not require a commercial driver license).

• Committed to food safety protocols and willing to complete ServSafe Food Handler certification.
• Spanish language skills preferred but not required, to help us better serve our multilingual community.
• Experience in non-profits, food access, grocery or restaurant work preferred but not required.

 
Physical Demands

This position requires typical physical demands of grocery work, including standing, walking, reaching, squatting, lifting up to 50 lbs. and working outdoors in hot, cold, and inclement weather conditions.   
 
Work Location
 
This position will take place predominately on the Dotte Mobile Grocer vehicle, but Cultivate KC maintains office space at 4049 Pennsylvania, Kansas City, MO 64111 where work tasks can be completed.
