Part Time Thrift Shop Associate

Job Description: Part-Time Thrift Shop Associate

As related to Thrift Shop operations:

  • Assist in the general operation of the retail thrift shop, including receiving and processing donations, and displaying merchandise.

  • Support sales efforts by assisting customers and maintaining a clean and organized sales floor.

  • Assist with the coordination of furniture donation deliveries and pickups as needed.

  • Assist in maintaining the building’s overall cleanliness and organization. Report any maintenance issues to the Thrift Shop Director.

  • Operate a cash register, process transactions, and reconcile cash with sales receipts.

  • Adhere to the cash handling policy and procedures.

  • Contribute to a positive image of the thrift store and its purpose in the community.

  • Assist with inventory control by accurately receiving, processing, and rotating stock according to established procedures, pricing guides, and color rotation schedules.

  • Provide courteous customer service, answer questions, and assist with customer needs.

  • Assist with maintaining a safe and organized work environment for employees and customers.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Thrift Shop Director.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work will vary. Schedule will be determined by the Store Manager, and will include some Saturdays.

Qualifications:

  • Retail experience preferred.

  • Ability to learn and apply merchandise processing and sales techniques.

  • Enthusiasm for the mission of Lee’s Summit Social Services.

  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 40 pounds.

  • Valid Drivers License preferred.
