The Sales Manager plays an essential role in driving revenue growth for Starlight, serving as the lead strategist and executor of inside sales efforts with a primary focus on Broadway programming, while supporting sales across all business lines. Working in close coordination with others, the Sales Manager will establish annual group and seasonal sales and renewal targets and continually refine strategies to achieve them. This role requires a proactive sales mindset, a strong proficiency in relationship development, a comfort with data-driven decision-making, and an aptitude for CRM platforms. The ideal candidate has a passion for performing arts and thrives in both strategic leadership and hands-on execution, leading outreach efforts, guiding team members, and translating insights into action.  

 

Required Accountabilities & Deliverables:

Ticket Sales + Reporting:

  • Establish and execute comprehensive sales tactics to achieve revenue and utilization targets in all areas.
  • Lead the design and execution of inside sales campaigns, managing outbound call strategies aimed at past buyers and new prospects for both individual and group purchases.
  • Closely monitor performance activity, analyze trends, and prepare regular reports that inform leadership decision-making. Being able to pivot and adjust strategies quickly and confidently.
  • Supervise sales team on outbound calling campaign, scripting and escalation needs. While assisting with other supervisory duties in the ticket office.

 

Group Sales:

  • Develop annual strategic marketing plan for group sales, including matrix to target new leads and track efforts.
  • Manage more than 150 + groups per season from initial proposal to close-of-sale, seating, collection of payment and delivery of tickets.
  • Generate leads through web promotions, direct mail, networking opportunities, and sales calls.
  • Create and manage all online group promotional codes including internal set-up and external communications.
  • Hire and manage the group sales intern each summer, playing a key role in mentoring the intern.
  • Book Spotlight Stage performances (community youth pre-show performance venue), gather contracts, facilitate tickets sales for performers and families, and coordinate day-of logistics, including group tickets, volunteer support, parking, and sound.

 

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Will coordinate across departments to ensure sales strategies align with programming, marketing, guest services, and operations.
  • Represent Starlight externally at community and industry functions, serving as both a sales ambassador and relationship builder.

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

The role calls for a professional with strong communication skills, a guest-first approach, and a strategic but approachable leadership style. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to balance multiple initiatives, develop and manage relationships with care and efficiency, and leverage data to drive decisions. Proficiency in CRM platforms is strongly preferred.

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Business, Marketing, Arts management, or related field AND/OR 3+ years in customer service and/or sales management, preferably in the performing arts.

Other Working Conditions:

 

This role is primarily administrative/desk-based with a traditional on-site M-F work week schedule and general alignment with Starlight’s office hours- with an expectation to attend night and weekend events as necessary and/or requested on a regular basis. Due to Starlight’s business, availability/communication may be required in cases of urgent or emergency matters during nights and weekends.
