Community Services League (CSL), founded in 1916, is one of the Kansas City region’s largest social service providers. Through its mission and vision of creating meaningful and lasting change in the lives of area neighbors, CSL maintains and delivers a variety of innovative anti-poverty programs that help move our community forward. CSL’s family stability programming offers a full suite of case management, supportive coaching, and direct wrap-around services to assist our neighbors in creating immediate and lasting stability in their lives and households. Position Overview
Our development and communications strategy at Community Services League (CSL) is a vital part of celebrating and sharing not only what we do but “why” we do it. Our capacity to tell stories and tell them well, give voice to the passion we have for all that we do and for our mission-focused work – helping create meaningful and lasting change in the lives of our neighbors. The Administration and Development Coordinator is key to our success and requires a highly organized, creative, detail oriented and motivated person to serve as a key conceptual contributor to our organizational storytelling, communicating to CSL consumers, neighbors and community stakeholders, helping to foster and expand CSL’s social capital throughout the community, and promoting the holistic view and value of CSL’s mission.
 
The Administration and Development Coordinator is responsible for supporting executive team administrative duties as assigned and all fundraising administrative duties of Community Services League (CSL). This Coordinator must be passionate about human services work, be able to manage and track more than one project at a time (high functioning multi-taskers please apply) and be detail oriented. We welcome those with experience and/or an interest in learning how to sustain a large non-profit through a communications strategy that supports philanthropy. Strong communication skills, flexibility and experience with self-supervision are important.
 
Responsibilities
 
Administration

  • Administrative Duties
    • Answer phone calls in a polite and professional manner
    • Maintain confidentiality, privacy professional conduct at all times
Development
• Administrative
  • Precise daily gift entry, receipting and thank you notes
  • Accurately track donor information
  • Provide ongoing donor database updates and maintenance in DonorPerfect/database
  • Pull reports as needed by team
  • Work with finance team on reconciliation and reporting
  • Donor and prospect research as assigned by CDO
  • Prepare materials in advance of donor and cultivation meetings
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of programmatic and organizational dashboards and strategic planning
  • Assists with signature event planning as assigned including but not limited to: registration, auction and resource coordination and solicitation
  • Fundraising
    • Prepare materials in advance of donor and cultivation meetings 
    • Manage sign-up platforms for agency including food pantry, volunteer opportunities, and events
    • Help coordinate and develop mailings, annual appeals, and other donor communications
    • Maintains printing and mail house relationships
    • Works in tandem with CDO to grow and maintain 1916 Club 
Event Planning 
• Event Planning and support 
  • Provide support to community events such as:  print materials, social media support, video production, and public relations
  • Serves as an agency representative at all signature events and volunteer events
  • Serves as lead coordinator for annual Back to School Event and Christmas Store
Volunteer Management
• Individual and Corporate Connections
  • Help solidify and improve corporate donor relationships and offer appealing volunteer opportunities to individuals in our community who are interested in volunteering with Community Services League.
  • Help create and oversee the volunteer onboarding process
  • Keep up with regular communications for volunteers
  • Oversees agency volunteers including but not limited to:  Back to School Event, Christmas Store, 1916 Club Events
  • Solicit volunteers into the 1916 Club and additional opportunities of support
  • Develop monthly, quarterly and annual volunteer experiences
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Qualified candidates must have demonstrated a minimum of 2-4 years of progressive experience in marketing and communications, public relations events and working with outside agencies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must.
  • Experience with DonorPerfect or other donor tracking software preferred
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to work as needed to accomplish the job requirements.
  • Must be willing to have a flexible schedule to attend events in the early morning, evenings and weekends.
  • Values teamwork while being able to problem-solve independently;
  • A willingness to take direction and can give or receive feedback responsibly;
  • A team player with a high energy level, strong interpersonal and multi-tasking skills, enthusiasm, initiative and flexibility who will represent Community Services League in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
Hours/Schedule: 
The typical hours for this position are 8am-5pm, Monday-Thursday and 8am-12pm on Friday. From time to time, this schedule will vary depending on the needs of clients, partners, or programs.
 
Salary/Benefits:
Salary will be commensurate with experience with a salary range of $45,205-$55,370.  CSL offers an employee health insurance plan, and a retirement savings plan with company contributions, that is available after the required tenure is met.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and/or hear.  The employee is frequently required to use hands to handle information and work within various accounting systems by computer.  The employee is occasionally required to move throughout the office to assist, to interact with and communicate with staff. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 5 pounds.
