Advocacy Field Operative

Contract-to-Hire Position: Advocacy Field Operative
Location: Tiffany Springs (KCMO, Northland); Hybrid
Type: Part-Time (15-20 hours per week, estimated)
Compensation: $17-24 per hour
 

Organization
Value Unconditional is a 501(c)3 Christian organization providing free victim services to adults seeking healing from sexual violence and childhood trauma. Our organization is made up of Restorative, Education and Advocacy services.
 
Position Summary
The Field Operative candidate must be solutions oriented, have strong relational skills, and possess the ability to remain calm in any situation. This individual will foster relationships with potential advocacy partners, recruit and motivate volunteer advocates, and have a strong understanding of the needs of survivors of sexual exploitation and sex trafficking. The primary responsibility of this role is to foster relationships with current and potential partners, establish systems, and identify funding sources to scale the Advocacy Program and reach more victims. The secondary function of this role is management and volunteer coordination, ensuring adequate coverage and support is available for partners and victims. The ideal candidate will be a well-spoken professional with valuable, existing law enforcement, nonprofit and donor relationships.
 
Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary liaison between Value Unconditional and local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, medical professionals, partner organizations, and churches, fostering and expanding relationships to strengthen advocacy efforts.
  • Travel within the greater Kansas City metro area (up to 70%) for meetings, outreach, relationship development and client support.
  • Manage on-call dispatching of advocates to support urgent client needs until successfully implementing a schedule established for volunteer advocates to step into this role, ensuring effective resource allocation and seamless support.
  • Strategically develop and maintain donor relationships to grow the advocacy program, ensuring scalability and a timely response to community needs.
  • Recruit, retain, and schedule volunteers to ensure full coverage of advocacy services; coach and motivate volunteers on best practices for trauma-informed responses.
  • Ensure consistent entry of complete and accurate service data into databases and maintain detailed records on advocacy services, client outcomes, volunteer engagement, and funds raised.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure program goals are met and high-quality, trauma-informed services are delivered to survivors.
  • Help raise awareness of the program’s impact, identify new opportunities, and engage in speaking events and community outreach to expand knowledge of available services.
  • Provide direct advocacy and support to survivors of sexual trafficking, sextortion, and sexual exploitation, facilitating appropriate referrals to relevant organizations.
  • Actively contribute to a positive team environment and assist with other duties or special projects as assigned.
  • Fulfill all job duties with strong regard for boundaries, confidentiality and consistent alignment with organization’s overall mission and goals

  • Spanish, verbal proficiency strongly preferred
 
Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in direct victim services, particularly with survivors of sexual trafficking, sexual exploitation, or sexual violence is required for this role.
  • At least 3 years experience in management or volunteer coordination strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in business development, including securing grants and building partnerships with community organizations, churches, and other stakeholders strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to implement a culture of high professional standards and ethics.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and work collaboratively with law enforcement, volunteers, clients, and community partners, including those with differing views.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse survivors in a supportive, trauma-informed and culturally responsive manner.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices and a strong commitment to the empowerment and dignity of survivors.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and ethics.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
