Childrens Mental Health Counselor-LMSW

The mental health counselor will offer mental health case management and assessment for child and mother that enters the shelter.  The counselor will refer clients for whom psychiatric diagnosis or treatment is indicated and assist with establishing clients appointments and schedule for any medications prescribed. The counselor will assess the environment of the shelter to assure the safety of all guests and will suggest modifications to support the psychological comfort and well-being of mothers and children.  The counselor may be asked to provide formal staff trainings on a regular basis and organize ongoing psycho-educational process groups for mothers and age-appropriate activities and or groups for children.
