Clinical Program Director

What we are looking for:
We are seeking a dedicated and visionary Clinical Program Director to lead and strengthen our mental health and clinical services. The ideal candidate is an experienced and licensed professional who combines clinical excellence with strong leadership and a commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive care.
This role requires someone who can guide a multidisciplinary team, implement evidence-based practices, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a supportive and collaborative environment. We are looking for a leader who is both strategic and compassionate—someone who understands the complexities of community-based care and is passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and families.
The salary range is $80,000 - $85,000

Position Summary: The clinical program director assures a cohesive, effective team of clinicians; robust clinical outcomes; the effective implementation of evidence-based practices; quality assurance; and achievement of strategic goals, agency standards, and funder requirements. Ability to work independently and to manage the work of others. Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team. Cultural sensitivity to the populations served by the Agency, staff, Board, and community.
Essential Duties :
- In collaboration with the Chief Program Officer and the Director of Program Monitoring and Evaluation, define the breadth and scope of clinical services, lead the strategic direction, implement monitoring and evaluation systems to assess and improve program effectiveness and efficiency.
- Provide supervision to clinical staff and interns in group and individual settings, including regular feedback and case consultation.
- Support, encourage, and mentor clinical staff and interns on client facing work, including connection to appropriate professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with other program teams to provide holistic services and ensure new and existing programs align with clinical approaches, when appropriate.
- Identify and create/update key policies and procedures that need to be developed or revised.
- Provide quality assurance oversight to the team, assuring effective and evidence-based treatments; accurate, timely documentation in the client record; compliance with funder requirements or value-based incentives; compliance with agency processes such as privacy and security (HIPAA), client intake and enrollments, billing processes, etc.
- Engage the team in successful achievement of clinical outcomes and established service hour goals, while simultaneously monitoring and moderating caseload intensities.
- Dedication to upholding the JFS client non-discrimination policy.
- Collaborate with Director of Program Monitoring and Evaluation to prepare for and manage counseling audits and site reviews.
- Ensure proper credentialing of clinical staff.
- Engage in program outreach and design new program partnerships based on emerging needs and aligned with organizational goals and strategy.
- Implement strategies to streamline and effectively manage the counseling waitlist and client wait-times.
- Maintain a process to determine clients who access services are within JFS scope of practice.
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel to satellite locations where JFS clinical services are offered.
- Potential to carry a small caseload of clients.
- Oversee program budget.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Education, Knowledge and Experience:
- A licensed clinical mental health professional, licensed at the clinical level in both Missouri and Kansas.
- Three or more years of team supervision experience in a mental health setting.
- Experience managing individuals in crisis, responding to mental health crises, and developing mental health crisis plans.
- Experience working with people who have experienced trauma and employ a trauma informed lens of clinical practice.
- Proficiency with clinical assessment and treatment planning, including demonstrated knowledge of the DSM-5.
- Training and/or familiarity with Play Therapy, Child-Parent Psychotherapy, EMDR, and/or Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
- Ability to think and act strategically, communicate clearly, and work collaboratively with program staff, colleagues, community partners, and program participants to achieve defined outcomes.
- Exemplifies the organization’s guiding principles in supervisory, collegial, and community relationships.
- Seven years of clinical mental health experience, including a minimum of three years of supervisory or administrative experience in clinical services or related field. Possesses knowledge of a variety of treatment models and the ability to differentially use treatment approaches. Experience in program planning and program development

- Frequently required to sit, stand, talk, and hear
- Able to work in a communal work environment.
- Able to effectively use office equipment such as video conferencing, digital phone system, Windows/Office, printer, copier, and fax machine.
