Economic Advocacy Manager
Kansas City, MO. Rose Brooks Center, a nonprofit domestic violence agency, is currently seeking a full-time Economic Advocacy Manager. This position includes providing economic advocacy services to domestic violence survivors and managing community partnerships with the primary focus of survivors achieving economic self-sufficiency through employment readiness, job obtainment, and retention as well as economic empowerment education. This role employs strategies of strengths-based case management services and strong community-based networking to create attainable opportunities for a diverse population of survivors seeking living wages in safe work environments. Additionally, this role coordinates and delivers the economic empowerment curriculum in partnership with Rose Brooks Center case managers. This position reports to the Director of Care Coordination.
OTHER ASPECTS OF THE POSITION:
- Perform all job responsibilities in accordance with agency policies and procedures, while demonstrating proficiency in all RBC competencies and utilizing the principles of trauma informed care, and accessibility; demonstrates a commitment to the overall mission of Rose Brooks Center.
- Maintain awareness about the risks of secondary trauma and understand one’s own responsibility of self-care.
- Attend scheduled staff, team, and supervision meetings.
- Participate in all required trainings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education, Experience and Skills:
- 2 years of job placement or vocational counseling experience.
- 1 year case management/advocacy experience.
- Experience in marketing, networking, and relationship building with outside community partners/employers.
- Knowledge of domestic violence and familiarity with trauma-informed care perspective.
- Proven ability to collaborate both internally and externally.
- Excellent understanding of current available resources and eligibility requirements; provide proper information, resources, and guidance to staff.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, database systems and other software.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills; detail and action oriented with an ability to be a creative problem solver.
- Able to multi-task and prioritize.
- Able to maintain timely and accurate documentation of services.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and car insurance with the ability to meet Rose Brooks Center’s driving requirements for the job position.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or a related field or commensurate; courses or classwork related to human services, social work, etc. is preferred and not required.
- Bilingual Spanish/English
WORK HOURS:
This is a full-time, exempt position (average of 40 hours per week), primarily day and mid shifts; requires ability to work hours that accommodate participants’ schedules and needs and includes up to two evenings per week and some weekend hours.
COMPENSATION:
This position falls into a salary range starting at $46,000 annually (exempt).
