Family Navigator – Founding Team
Position Overview
As The Aidan Project enters a new phase of growth, we are launching a formal Family Navigation program to support families across the Kansas City region. This program will help families access developmental evaluations, therapy providers, and trusted community resources.
The Family Navigator will serve as a trusted guide for families seeking early-intervention services for their child. This role will play a foundational part in helping launch and shape The Aidan Project’s Family Navigation program.
Working closely with the Executive Director, the Navigator will help design navigation workflows, build relationships with regional providers, and support families as they move through complex systems of care.
This position is ideal for someone who is energized by building something new and wants to help shape a program that will grow to support hundreds of families across the Kansas City region.
Key Responsibilities
Family Navigation & Support

Provide individualized navigation support to families seeking developmental evaluations, therapy services, and community resources

Help families understand developmental milestones, evaluation pathways, and therapy options
-
Guide families through referral processes with therapy clinics, healthcare providers, and early-intervention systems (e.g., Missouri First Steps, Kansas Infant and Toddler Services)

Maintain follow-up with families to ensure connection to appropriate services
Provider & Community Engagement

Build relationships with therapy providers, pediatricians, and developmental specialists across the Kansas City region

Support referral pathways between The Aidan Project and local service providers

Maintain a strong understanding of regional service availability and waitlists
Resource Development

Help maintain and expand a regional resource library of therapy providers, specialists, and support services

Identify service gaps and emerging needs within the early-intervention ecosystem
Data & Program Systems

Document family interactions and outcomes within the organization’s CRM (Salesforce)
-
Track referrals and service outcomes to support program evaluation and improvement

Contribute insights that help shape the continued development of the Family Navigation program
Community Engagement

Participate in family workshops, speaker series events, and outreach activities
-
Help develop educational resources that support families navigating developmental concerns
Role Structure & Time Allocation
The Family Navigator role balances direct family support with program development responsibilities.
Approximate time allocation:
-
60% — Direct Family Navigation: supporting families through evaluation, referral, and therapy access
-
20% — Provider Relationship Building: strengthening partnerships with pediatric providers and therapy clinics across the Kansas City region

10% — Resource Development: expanding and maintaining The Aidan Project’s regional provider and resource directory
-
10% — Data & Documentation: tracking family interactions and outcomes within Salesforce to support program learning and impact measurement
Qualifications
Required
-
Demonstrated lived or professional experience supporting individuals with developmental delays or disabilities
-
Strong familiarity with the Kansas City pediatric and therapy ecosystem

Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills
-
Highly organized with strong documentation practices
Preferred
-
Licensed Master Clinical Social Worker (LCSW/LMCSW)
-
Multilingual (Spanish strongly preferred)
-
Experience with early childhood systems such as Missouri First Steps
-
Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM systems
-
Comfort using emerging technology tools, including AI-enabled tools that support workflow and information management

Salary Range: $50,000 - 74,999
