Since 2016, Pawsperity has been helping uplift families from generational poverty through job training in the art of dog grooming. Pawsperity serves some of the community’s most vulnerable members, including individuals often coming from backgrounds of domestic violence, addiction, incarceration, and homelessness

Position Purpose:
The Graduate & Employment Engagement Manager oversees graduate engagement and retention and builds and maintains relationships with pet grooming employers as partners.  They are responsible for facilitating classes wherein students will learn how to write resumes, create their grooming portfolio, practice professionalism, and navigate job searches and interviews. This position is responsible for graduate engagement in the Bridge and Alumni programs as well as retention in graduate employment.

The ideal candidate is outgoing, well connected in the Kansas City dog-grooming community, motivates our students and graduates, deeply cares about the success of our students and graduates, is a role model for professionalism, is self-driven and goal oriented.

Student/Graduate Engagement and Education:

• Work closely with case management and grooming instructors to develop relationships with students approaching graduation
• Teach students how to write their resume
• Teach students how to create a portfolio
• Teach and practice how to navigate an interview
• Teach work readiness and professionalism
• Work with students on how to budget and manage their finances so they know how much money they need to make at their job.
• Aid with job searches and job placement in coordination with grooming instructors
• Check in and track contact regularly with all graduates, with the help of the Graduate Case Manager
• Motivate students through difficult life changes 
• Maintain a job board for all graduates seeking employment in the grooming industry

• Build and maintain employment partnerships
• Check in with employment partnerships quarterly
• Meet face-to-face with all employment partners annually
• Facilitate informational sessions with prospective employers
• Maintains database on all pet-grooming employers in the KC metro area
• Responsible for a 100% job placement rate for students of Pawsperity within 60 days of graduation
• Responsible for an 80% retention in grooming employment for graduates of Pawsperity in Bridge

• Formal Dog Grooming Training with at least Three Years of Experience in the Grooming Industry; or
• Degree in Human Services field and Experience in Employment Engagement/Job Coaching/Employment Services; and Experience in:
  • Customer Service
  • Human Resources
  • Community Engagement
  • Teaching/Mentoring/Coaching
• Must be able to read/write/speak English
• Ability to comprehend and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and policy and procedure manuals.
• Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees, volunteers and clients of the organization.
