Information and Referral Coordinator
Department: Independent Living Services
Reports to: Core Services Manager
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Hours per Week: 40
About the Role:
The Whole Person is seeking a dedicated and resourceful Information & Referral Services Lead to serve as the first point of contact for individuals seeking support and services. This role is essential in ensuring that incoming calls are handled professionally, assessed accurately, and directed appropriately. The Coordinator will also maintain and share up-to-date community resource information and support internal administrative functions.
- Serve as the primary contact for incoming calls, providing professional and compassionate service.
- Conduct brief assessments and provide accurate referrals to community organizations.
- Maintain and update resource databases and internal communication tools.
- Track call volume and departmental data for reporting purposes.
- Support internal departments with administrative tasks and resource coordination.
- Deliver presentations, assist with project planning, and serve on internal committees.
- Mentor staff and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in information and referral services, social services, customer service, or disability advocacy.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and client database systems.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in:
- Information and referral services
- Social or human services
- Customer service in nonprofit or advocacy settings
- Working with individuals with disabilities or underserved populations
- Community outreach or resource coordination
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities
- Experience with data analysis and reporting tools
This position is primarily office-based, with the majority of time spent on-site. While performing job duties, there may be occasional interactions with unpredictable clients.
