- Scheduled Days: Monday through Friday
- Schedule Times: 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Friday
- Rate of Pay: $15/hour
- Average Hours per Week: 15–29 hours
Position Summary
Metro Lutheran Ministry seeks a motivated, dedicated individual to serve as Warehouse Lead at our Northland Food Pantry, located at 1100 NE Vivion Rd., Kansas City, MO 64118 in Clay County, MO. This role coordinates day-to-day warehouse and back-of-house pantry operations, supports safe food handling practices, and provides on-site leadership to volunteers to ensure donations are received, organized, stored, and distributed efficiently. The Warehouse Lead reports directly to the Pantry Manager, and works closely with staff, volunteers, and at-risk client households.Essential Functions
- Lead volunteers in sorting and stocking donations and maintaining pantry cleanliness.
- Assist with inventory control and rotation practices (FIFO).
- Receive, inspect, and process incoming donations and deliveries.
- Support pantry displays and organize product for efficient stocking and distribution.
- Follow safe food handling, storage, and temperature control practices.
- Perform routine cooler and equipment checks and report maintenance needs.
- Monitor pest-control measures and maintain a clean, safe work area.
- Complete janitorial duties as needed.
- Pick up and/or deliver donations using a personal vehicle as needed.
- Support exterior/landscape care and outdoor maintenance as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Experience in warehouse, stocking, inventory, food pantry, or volunteer coordination preferred.
· Ability to follow food safety practices and maintain organized storage areas.
· Comfort leading and directing volunteers in a respectful, team-oriented manner.
· Reliable attendance and ability to work the scheduled hours.
· Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and ability to use a personal vehicle for occasional donation pick-up/delivery.
· Ability to pass a criminal, MVR, and family care registry background check
· Basic computer/recordkeeping skills helpful for inventory and receiving logs.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
· Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull typical pantry items and donations (up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation).
· Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching; occasional use of step stool/ladder for shelving.
· Work performed in pantry/warehouse areas, including coolers/freezers; exposure to temperature variations.
· Must be able to follow safety procedures and use cleaning supplies appropriately.
