Wealth Building Coach - Career Services
Organization Overview:
Community Services League (CSL), founded in 1916, is one of the Kansas City region’s largest social service providers. Through its mission and vision of collaborating on strategies that foster community stability and individual wellbeing, CSL maintains and delivers a variety of innovative anti-poverty programs that help move our community forward. CSL’s programming offers a full suite of case management, supportive coaching, and direct wrap-around services to assist our neighbors in creating stability in their lives and households. We assist individuals and families throughout the metro area, and, largely, our programming is in the areas of basic needs, family stability, workforce development, financial coaching, housing services, and community development.
Position Summary:
The Wealth Building Coach will help add another layer of support to families living within Eastern Jackson County by helping them access an innovative match-savings program, growing their wealth, and rebuilding the community.
Reports to: Senior Vice President of Workforce Development
Responsibilities:
In the Wealth Building Coach role, you will provide the following services and oversight, plus any other duties as assigned by your supervisor. Main areas of responsibility include Program Recruitment and Program Administration.
Program Recruitment:

Using a strengths’ based coaching model, the Wealth Building Coach will build community and neighbor trust with all those living in the targeted community.

Recruit participants. Educate them on the program and sign them up as they are willing.

Assist participants in connecting with the financial institution, open appropriate accounts, and become familiar with how the program will run.

Help participants to set their goals based upon the program criteria. Be a partner in helping them move forward on their goals with coaching and follow-up.

Support participants in connecting with the integrated services within Community Services League (CSL).

Coordinate continuity of services with partner agencies and coordinate services in the community in a culturally competent manner. The coach may also need to seek out new community partners and resources.

Meet people where they are and understanding that wealth building is a long-term, multi-tiered process and not a one-time event. An ongoing relationship with neighbors is an expectation.

Be prepared to share all that CSL offers, explaining the coaching and integrated models we operate from to others.

Help with special events (trainings, outreach, and individualized efforts) geared toward our community building approach for family stability.

Attend required meetings with CSL staff and relevant industry meetings.

Build and maintain strong community partnerships with organizations that will work with vulnerable populations.
Administration:
The Wealth Building Coach will:

Files and Data: Maintain accurate and up-to-date files on each neighbor, their accounts, and accuracy of CSL’s match. All required databases will be kept up to date.

Dual accountability must be maintained in the processing of client funds or matching funds.

Reports to appropriate CSL team members will be made at least monthly.

Maintain savings accounts information and ensure that neighbors are staying informed and up to date.

Meet monthly with each family to assess how they are doing and what their current goals are. Connect each family to necessary resources to continue building family and personal wealth.

Work with appropriate CSL staff on grant requirements, outcomes and reporting.

Determine when a neighbor can appropriately receive an interim disbursement of the funds.

Will stay up to date with industry best practices, cultural competency and trauma informed practices related to wealth building.

Ensure that the Senior Vice President of Workforce Development is informed of all needs and concerns, and informed with regular updates and reports.
A strong candidate must be able to work independently and take the initiative on getting things done within the given parameters; have strong networking skills; be organized and able to manage time; computer skills; and have strong team-building skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or a minimum of two years’ experience in similar field.

Familiarity with Eastern Jackson County and surrounding communities and their resources

Financial Coaching Training and/or previous work experience in Financial Services Industry with direct customer interaction.

Must have experience and the capacity to work with neighbors in a wide variety of life circumstances, from a variety of backgrounds, and with a resiliency-minded lens.

Working knowledge and experience of working with financial institutions and financial literacy.
Hours/Schedule: The typical hours for this position are 8am-5pm, Monday-Thursday and 8am-12pm on Friday. From time to time, this schedule will vary depending on the needs of clients, partners, or programs.
Salary/Benefits:
Salary will be commensurate with experience with a salary range of $43,888-$55,369. CSL offers an employee health insurance plan, and a retirement savings plan with company contributions, that is available after the required tenure is met.
