Volunteer Coordinator

The Parkville Living Center seeks an energetic, organized, and compassionate Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteers who help build a stronger, more connected community.

The Volunteer Coordinator will create systems that allow people of all ages and backgrounds to meaningfully serve their neighbors while ensuring volunteers feel welcomed, appreciated, and equipped to succeed.

Primary Responsibilities

Volunteer Recruitment

  • Recruit volunteers through churches, civic organizations, schools, businesses, and community events.

  • Conduct volunteer orientations.

  • Match volunteers with meaningful opportunities.

Volunteer Management

  • Schedule volunteers.

  • Maintain a volunteer database.

  • Track volunteer hours.

  • Coordinate background checks when appropriate.

  • Maintain volunteer files.

Training & Support

  • Develop onboarding materials.

  • Train volunteers.

  • Check in regularly.

  • Help resolve concerns.

  • Celebrate volunteer successes.


Program Support

Coordinate volunteers for:

  • Community meals

  • Coffee Café

  • Tech Connect

  • Transportation

  • Community events

  • Town Halls

  • Fundraising events

  • Outreach projects

  • Special events

Appreciation

  • Organize appreciation events.

  • Recognize volunteer milestones.

  • Share volunteer stories.

Community Partnerships

Develop relationships with:

  • Churches

  • Park University

  • High schools

  • Corporate volunteer groups

  • Civic organizations

  • Retired professionals

Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Experience coordinating volunteers, staff, or teams

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational abilities

  • Comfortable using Google Workspace and online scheduling tools

  • Passion for community engagement


Not required:

  • College degree

  • Nonprofit experience
