KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Aug. 25, 2026) — Community Threads KC will celebrate the opening of its nonprofit organization with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, inviting residents, community leaders and local partners to mark the beginning of a new chapter dedicated to serving families throughout the Kansas City area. The open house celebration will take place at Community Threads KC 420 S. Kansas Avenue Olathe, Kansas 66061 and will include an official ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Olathe Chamber of Commerce, guided tours, light refreshments and opportunities for guests to learn more about the organization’s programs and services.
Community Threads KC was founded to restore dignity and meet basic needs by providing free, new, and gently used clothing in a boutique setting to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship. We are committed to building stronger communities by connecting individuals and families and other social service agencies with essential clothing resources.
“This ribbon cutting isn’t simply opening the doors to a boutique – we’re opening the door to hope, dignity and opportunity,” said Shelley White, Executive Director and Founder, “Every rack, every shelf and every donated item represent a belief that no one should have to choose between meeting basic needs and feeling confident. We are grateful to every volunteer, donor, partner and supporter who has helped weave this vision into reality. This ribbon cutting celebrates what is possible when a community comes together with compassion.”
The event is free and open to the public. Community members, elected officials, business leaders, nonprofit organizations and media representatives are encouraged to attend.
