LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA Expands Across Kansas City Metro to Serve More Cancer Survivors

Kansas City, Mo. (June 5, 2025)The YMCA of Greater Kansas City is expanding its transformative LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA cancer survivorship program, bringing life-changing support to even more individuals and families across the metro.

New program sites will launch later this year at the Cleaver Family YMCA and Kirk Family YMCA, building on the success of current offerings at the Olathe Family YMCA, Platte County Community Center South, Platte County Community Center North and the Atchison Family YMCA/Cray Community Center.

To prepare for this expansion, the Olathe Family YMCA will host a two-day instructor training June 11–12, equipping staff with the tools to support survivors with care, compassion and expertise.

“We look forward to providing hope for more cancer survivors and their families with additional LIVESTRONG at the YMCA programs,” said Maggie Little, executive director of the Olathe Family YMCA. “The holistic approach is truly life-changing not only for participants but also their loved ones who walk alongside them on the journey.”

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a free, 12-week wellness program for cancer survivors that includes small group fitness sessions, a customized wellness plan, emotional support, and a complimentary YMCA membership for participants and their families. Open to individuals at any stage of the cancer journey—from diagnosis to remission—the program is grounded in community, connection and healing.

The Y continues to seek community partnerships to sustain and grow the program long-term across greater Kansas City. For more information, visit KansasCityYMCA.org/LIVESTRONG.
