American Cancer Society Serves the Community

There are many programs that the American Cancer Society has that can help you during the different stages of your cancer treatment.

Hope Lodge community
Our 30+ Hope Lodge communities across the country provide a free place to stay during treatment so people with cancer can focus on getting better. These communities provide comfortable guest suites with private baths, as well as inviting spaces with all the comforts of home, including a communal kitchen, dining area, laundry rooms, and places to gather or find a quiet respite – all at no cost to guests.

Hope Lodge guests don’t just find a place to stay – they find a community of support and an emotional connection with others facing the same journey.

ACS CARES™
If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with cancer, deciding what’s next can be overwhelming. ACS CARES™ (Community Access to Resources, Education, and Support) is the only app that equips those facing cancer with curated content, programs, and services to fit their specific cancer journey.
The ACS CARES mobile app provides people with cancer, their families, and caregivers an easy, free way to:

  • Access personalized, quality cancer-related information
  • Speak directly with American Cancer Society cancer information specialists when you have questions day or night, 365 days a year.
  • Find reliable information on addressing important topics
  • Connect virtually with trained community volunteers who share the same cancer experience and background
  • Receive in-person support from clinic volunteers at pilot locations.

Road To Recovery®
Get a free ride to cancer treatment
The American Cancer Society Road To Recovery® program eases your burden by giving free rides to cancer-related medical appointments. Our trained volunteer drivers are happy to pick you up, take you to your appointment, and drop you off at home. All for free and all to make your days a little easier. Not having a ride shouldn’t stand between you and lifesaving treatment.
Schedule a ride with Road To Recovery®  Connect with us by calling  1-800-227-2345. to learn more about Road To Recovery® availability near you and other resources to help you on your cancer journey.

We are in need of more volunteers in the Kansas City area to help with the Road To Recovery® .  The demand has risen greatly over the past year.  Please contact us if you have any questions about becoming our next great volunteer.  Call Amy Kralicek, the Associate Director, Access to Care Solutions Delivery at 785.588.4458.
