Women’s Employment Network Launches “AI for Beginners” Certificate Course to Equip Job Seekers for the Future of Work

The Women’s Employment Network (WEN), a leading Kansas City nonprofit dedicated to helping women achieve career success and financial independence, has launched a new online course designed to make artificial intelligence more accessible for job seekers and career changers.

The program, “AI for Beginners: Earn Your Certificate,” was created by Amy Coleman-Miller, MIT alumna and WEN’s AI & Digital Programs Lead, to provide practical, step-by-step guidance on using AI in the job search process.

Participants will gain hands-on experience with tools like ChatGPT, Canva, and Microsoft Copilot — learning how to draft stronger resumes, polish cover letters, practice interview responses, and stay organized throughout the job search.

“AI can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be,” said Amy Coleman-Miller. “We built this course to help our community members feel empowered — not just with technology, but with the confidence to share their strengths and shine during the job search.”

What the Course Offers:
• Confidence with AI tools in a simple, approachable format
• Career readiness skills for resumes, cover letters, and interviews
• Time-saving strategies to streamline job applications and preparation
• A certificate in digital literacy to highlight skills for employers

The launch comes as employers nationwide increasingly expect candidates to demonstrate digital fluency. By offering accessible training, WEN is helping Kansas City’s workforce adapt to an AI-driven economy — positioning participants to compete and thrive in evolving industries.

“At WEN, we’ve always focused on equipping women with the tools they need to build brighter futures,” said Erin Cole, WEN Chief Operating Officer. “This course expands that mission by ensuring job seekers in our region are ready for the opportunities and challenges of a changing workplace.”
