Individual Volunteer Opportunity: CASA Advocacy and Volunteer Opportunities

Offer Valid: 01/31/2026 - 12/31/2026

Get Involved with CASA: Advocacy and Volunteer Opportunities

CASA of Johnson & Wyandotte Counties offers many ways to make a difference!

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) are appointed by judges to advocate for the best interests of children in foster care. Advocates meet regularly with their assigned child or sibling group, consult with foster care workers, attorneys, schools, and other professionals, and gather information from family members and placements. On average, CASAs spend 10–12 hours per month on their case.

To become a CASA Advocate:

  • Be at least 21 years of age

  • Complete an application, interview, and background screening

  • Commit to at least one year of service

  • Complete the 30-hour Pre-Service Training over five weeks

General Volunteers also play a vital role in supporting CASA’s mission. They assist with events, committees, donation drives, and other non-advocacy opportunities. These roles are open to high school students and adults ages 18+, require no long-term commitment, and only involve completing the general volunteer application.

For more details about CASA’s Pre-Service Training or to learn how to become an advocate, contact Jamie Sink, Training & Volunteer Director, at jsink@casajwc.com. To become a general volunteer or explore all involvement options, visit www.casajwc.org/get-involved to complete the appropriate form.
