LIHEAP Application Specialist
The primary responsibility of the Application Specialist is to accurately and efficiently process submitted applications. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps low-income households meet their energy needs.

Mid America Assistance Coalition (MAAC) has a contract with the State of Missouri to process LIHEAP applications for residents in Clay, Jackson and Platte Counties. Employees must be willing and able to adhere to program guidelines and requirements as set forth by the State.
Requirements: BA/BS in a related field preferred, High School Diploma or GED required; and 1 year of experience in office environment and data entry. Must have reliable transportation. Ability to effectively communicate with individuals from various socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds in addition to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Ability to process high-volume data entry into multiple databases with accuracy. Must be flexible and willing to quickly shift focus if needed. Ability to handle stress and remain calm. Computer proficiency with Windows-based operating system and ability to seamlessly use dual monitors. Familiarity with Google Suite, Zoom, and remote support tools.
Must pass background check.
Responsibilities: Process applications for eligibility and maintain client files with documentation needed to justify determination. Clearly and accurately record case notes to document the process to eligibility. Maintain strict adherence to data privacy laws and confidentiality policies. Consistently meet weekly performance targets while ensuring compliance with program guidelines. Partner with team members to resolve issues, peer review cases and provide coverage during team member absences. Communicate professionally and courteously with applicants and external partners by phone, email and postal mail. Maintain a positive and empathetic attitude towards applicants. Other duties as assigned.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
- Light lifting may be required (no more than 20 pounds at a time with occasional lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds)
- Regular, predictable attendance is required
- Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic)
- Ability to work in a confined area
- Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time
This is a non-exempt salary position with an annual pay rate of 35K-38K (roughly $18-$20/hr) based on a 37.5 hour work week.
