Status: Full-Time with benefits; $50,000 - $65,000 per year

This role is perfect for someone who loves connecting people with meaningful service and building partnerships across the community and has the important organizational skills to manage the systems that support and document the engagement of our volunteers and the community.

For more than 50 years, KCSC has operated as a senior center without walls, serving more than 3,000 older adults where they live and in the community,  reducing social isolation, providing a daily well-check and hot nutritious meals to homebound seniors, and providing the wraparound programs and services that help older adults remain independent in their homes -all thanks to a small but mighty team and our volunteer-led programs and community partnerships.

At KC Shepherd’s Center, engaging 500 volunteers not only makes our work possible, but it is also core to our mission of honoring our elders by celebrating, empowering and serving older adults. KCSC is unique in that, in furtherance of our mission to facilitate meaningful and purposeful aging, we engage older adults as volunteers, providing them with a meaningful opportunity to remain active and make contributions to those with limited mobility. Every day they deliver meals, provide companionship, share their gifts and talents, and help older adults remain independent and connected to their community.

Because of that, we’re looking for someone very special to lead and grow this incredible network.
We are hiring a Community Engagement & Volunteer Manager to help recruit, organize and support, inspire and celebrate the volunteers who power our programs.

What You’ll Do

• Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for programs serving older adults
• Build partnerships with community organizations, businesses, and faith groups
• Represent KCSC at community outreach events and presentations
• Coordinate volunteer scheduling and engagement
• Track volunteer hours and maintain volunteer records
• Support volunteer appreciation and engagement activities

What We’re Looking For

• A people lover with strong interpersonal and communication skills –who respects and appreciates volunteers who choose to spend their valuable time helping us honor our elders by celebrating, empowering and serving older adults
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Experience in volunteer coordination, community outreach, or nonprofit work preferred
• Passion for serving older adults and building community connections
• Ability to manage multiple projects and relationships
