At CASA of Johnson & Wyandotte Counties, our volunteer advocates stand beside children who have experienced abuse or neglect and speak up for their best interests in court and in the community. Behind every dedicated advocate is a team ensuring they are supported, prepared, and ready to serve. We are seeking a Volunteer Engagement Coordinator who is passionate about people, thrives on organization, and believes in the power of community volunteers to change a child’s life.

Since 1985, CASA of Johnson & Wyandotte Counties has served more than 5,700 children by training volunteers who are appointed by judges to advocate for the best interests of youth navigating the child welfare system. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys building relationships while managing the detailed processes that help volunteers move from their first inquiry to becoming a powerful voice for a child.

What You’ll Do:

Support Volunteer Recruitment

  • Serve as a welcoming first point of contact for individuals interested in becoming CASA volunteers
  • Coordinate information sessions and help guide applicants through the recruitment process
  • Track and manage the volunteer pipeline from inquiry through training
  • Assist with outreach efforts, recruitment campaigns, and community events
Manage Screening & Onboarding
  • Oversee the volunteer application and onboarding process
  • Coordinate required background checks, fingerprinting, and reference checks
  • Ensure all compliance requirements from CASA, the Kansas CASA Association, and the courts are met
  • Maintain accurate volunteer files and track onboarding progress
Strengthen Volunteer Engagement
  • Maintain regular communication with volunteers throughout onboarding
  • Support volunteer recognition efforts and appreciation activities
  • Track engagement and identify opportunities to strengthen retention
  • Support communication with both CASA advocates and other volunteers such as committee and event volunteers
Support Training & Data Management
  • Coordinate logistics for pre-service volunteer training
  • Track training attendance and maintain volunteer training records
  • Maintain volunteer information within databases and generate reports as needed
  • Assist leadership with engagement metrics and program reporting
What We’re Looking For
  • Passion for CASA’s mission and the well-being of children who have experienced abuse or neglect
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple processes and deadlines
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Comfort working with databases and technology systems
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience
  • At least two years of experience in volunteer coordination, nonprofit programs, or related work

Full-time employees receive generous paid time off ranging from 3–5 weeks annually, based on years of service, in addition to a schedule of paid holidays each year. Employees begin their roles working onsite to build strong connections with the team and organization, with the opportunity to work remotely up to two days per week after the first 90 days, with supervisor approval. Eligible employees may also participate in medical, dental, and vision coverage, disability insurance, a retirement plan, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
