Amethyst Place is the product of Kansas City community leaders banding together to address the lack of safe housing for single family homes recovering from substance use disorder and their children. Because of untreated mental illness, significant histories of trauma, poor educational attainment, limited work histories, felonies, evictions, poor credit histories, and lack of safe and affordable housing options, these women had no choice after residential treatment but to return to the same communities
