Criminal Legal Reform Paid Canvasser Position - KC and Wichita

ACLU-KS is organizing to change our cash bail system at the county level. As a part of this project, we’re gathering community support for the issue. ACLU-KS is looking for canvassers for a six week period between September 28 and November 10 to engage community members door-to-door for their support for bail reform and to support voter turnout in the general election.

Apply here by Wednesday, September 18: https://forms.office.com/r/PcDuxQhw6X

  • Approach the general public and adapt to adjusting environments
  • Collect accurate information when canvassing

The issue:
  • ACLU-KS believes our cash bail system is one of the most unfair aspects of our criminal legal system, in which there are two tiers for the exact same crime: those who can pay for their freedom, and those who can’t. People who can’t afford to pay bail remain in jail until their trial, and this has rippling effects on our communities. We’re organizing to change this system so that freedom doesn’t depend on how much money you have.
For any questions about the position, please contact Leslie Butsch, ACLU-KS Field Director, at lbutsch@aclukansas.org.
