Program Manager – FastTrac

FastTrac is a Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation affiliate program designed to build and support entrepreneurial communities both locally and nationally. FastTrac provides entrepreneurs in the community with access to the tools and knowledge they need to launch their business. This curriculum-based program delivers facilitation through the affiliate network, over an 8-16 week period where entrepreneurs will develop a business plan and additional strategic levers to run a successful business. 

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Manager – FastTrac will lead curriculum-based program operations to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the business skills and insights, tools, resources, and peer networks necessary to start and grow successful businesses. In addition, the program manager will ensure FastTrac affiliate standards are upheld and assigned project-based programs adhere to established schedules, specifications, and budgets. 

 
Specific Responsibilities Include:   
  •  Leads, recruits and manages the FastTrac affiliate program by providing outstanding customer service and ensuring affiliate standards are upheld. 
  • Collaborates with Executive Director, cross functionally and with external partners to ensure that assigned program related deliverables are completed according to specifications, budgets, and timelines. 
  • Maintains open communication and transparency, with manager,  disclosing conditions, operations, and needs of the program. 
  • Administers annual program budget of roughly $1M to ensure maximum effectiveness and outcomes are achieved, as aligned with program parameters. 
  • Manages and supports the overall growth and improvement of user and affiliate experience, continuously monitoring the relevance and impact of content, tools, initiatives, and affiliate training approaches by creating and using data-driven methods to determine impact. 
  • Develops and maintains multiple program and project plans, utilizing project management best practices to track and report progress, resolve issues, and communicates deadlines and expectations with key stakeholders. 
  • Oversees curriculum based FastTrac software development projects, collaborating with internal and external partners, engaging users, and communicating user-requirements to ensure success.  
  • Supports the development, and design of new programs, content, or tools required to advance Foundation goals. 
  • Ensures program related metrics are tracked, reported, and assessed in collaboration with the Research, Learning and Evaluation team. 
  • Takes proactive steps to minimize delays in program and/or content delivery. 
  • Regularly communicates with clients and vendors to arrange meetings, confirm program schedules,  and oversees new affiliate onboarding, affiliate training, discussing any program concerns or deliverables as needed. 
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, represents the Foundation internally and externally on program related matters. 
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE  
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred but would consider an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates possession of competencies in a related field. 
 
Work Experience: At least five years of professional experience or demonstrated expertise in a public or private sector, working with entrepreneurs, volunteers, contractors focusing on economic development, philanthropy, political setting design, or developing, growing, and executing entrepreneurial content and programs. At least four years of progressive recent experience working with influential think tanks, philanthropic influencers or creators is strongly preferred. 
 
Travel: This position may require up to 30% regional or national business travel.

Qualified candidates for this position must be highly motivated, capable of self-direction and able to work collaboratively in a team.  Candidates must exhibit a keen sense of responsibility and enjoy working with multiple demands, shifting priorities, and constant change.  

Has a proven ability to support volunteers and affiliates within an organization that prioritizes racial equity, diversity, and inclusion in culture and strategic or programmatic work. 
  • Has demonstrated skills at building volunteer/affiliate relationships and leveraging existing relationships to improve outcomes. 
  • Has excellent communication skills, including well-developed interpersonal, written, customer service and listening skills. 
  • Prioritizes and multi-tasks effectively using excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail.  
  • Has excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Has the ability to function well in a high-paced and at times, stressful environment. 
  • Possesses a passion for “doing what is right,” with unquestioned integrity, positive ethics, and values reflective of the Kauffman Foundation. 
  • Is committed to the Foundation’s credo, standards, and values in alignment with our racial equity, diversity, and inclusion statement. 
  • Has strong computer literacy skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation applications. Learning management software, e.g., Canvas, experience preferred. 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
