Position Overview
We seek a highly motivated and visionary Program Manager to lead activities for the KC 360 Violence Intervention and Prevention Model, focusing on people and communities most impacted by violence. The KC 360 Manager will work with the CEO, Director of Programs and Operations, and other Project Managers to manage and facilitate KC 360. The Manager plays a pivotal role in bringing together partner organizations, providing collaborative leadership, strategic planning, program management, outcome tracking/reporting, community forums and impact.

Founded in 2018, KC Common Good, a 501(c)3 organization, is addressing the root causes of violence to instill hope and ensure a successful future for every individual in the greater Kansas City region. Our mission is to create an environment where all citizens can live safely and have access to real opportunities. We are conveners and connectors, bringing together the business community, engaged citizens, community resources, and key stakeholders to make an investment in societal change for our common good. Utilizing a collective impact strategy, KC Common Good is a backbone organization working across diverse stakeholders throughout Kansas City.

Key Responsibilities
 
Facilitator

  • Facilitate and coordinate weekly KC 360 meetings across more than 80 partner organizations, achieving shared goals.

  • Recruit, retain, and deepen the engagement and impact of participants in KC 360 and its subgroups.

  • Foster a positive, upbeat culture staying focused on solutions and innovation. Develop a strong working unit, supporting collective impact and shared successes.

Collaborative Leader

  • Lead in ways that build trust, credibility, mutuality, creativity, integrity, empathy, and dignity.

  • Build and manage strong relationships from within communities and across sectors (faith, health, education, business, law and justice, business, funders, community violence intervention partners, local and state government, lived experience, and other organizations).

  • Maintain a balanced posture in absorbing divergent views, steadfastly focused on solutions that work. Remain flexible, while also managing time to move the conversation towards a common goal.

  • Effectively live out the vision of KC Common Good, functioning as the organization's spokesperson amongst external stakeholders, and communicating with media partners.

 
Strategic Planner and Implementer

  • Understand and amplify the roles and contributions of all sectors of the community. Mobilize resources, both financial and human, to support the plan.

  • Communicate with funders; from local to national, governmental to institutional funding sources. Write and present summarized reports tracking the progress toward program outcomes.

  • Collaborate with partner organizations to gather and analyze data, providing insights to guide continuous improvement efforts.

Convener and Ecosystem Developer

  • Provide strategic leadership to align partner activities, ensuring a cohesive and synergistic approach to improving safety outcomes.

  • Strengthen relationships with community violence intervention and prevention practitioners. Learn from, align, and support the work of others who positively impact the root causes of violence.

  • Embody the KC Common Good brand within the community, and effectively communicate our “why” in how we as a community collectively can reduce violence.

Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in collaborative leadership, facilitating change, social impact design, development, project management, public policy, or related field.
2. More than five years of experience as a facilitator, coordinating and managing community-based initiatives and strategies.
3. Well-developed understanding of how to enable group decision-making and problem-solving.
4. Technology abilities with Microsoft Office, Zoom, email, electronic calendar invitations, and utilizing shared documents and spreadsheets. Willingness to learn new applications and identify innovative ways for technology to support organizational objectives.
5. Ability to develop and maintain reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify trends.
6. Familiarity with asset-based and/or social impact design approaches to community development.
7. Dedicated to shared and measurable goals for the common good, creating, resourcing, scaling, and leveraging strategies and innovations for broad investment and impact.
8. Basic knowledge of and commitment to learn about social impact, social determinants of health, social justice, and other focuses of KC Common Good programming.
9. Strong organizational, fund development, and time-management skills, with the ability to set priorities and limits to accomplish tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.

Work conditions may include:

  • Work in neighborhoods impacted by violence for extended periods and weekends.

  • Make and receive numerous emails, video/voice calls, and texts.

  • Drive yourself to meetings, events, community meetings, and other professional obligations in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area.

  • Speak and appear publicly on behalf of the organization.

Salary is commensurate with experience from $75,000 a year.  Benefits include Paid Time Off, Health Insurance, and a Retirement Savings Account with employer match.
