Compensation based on experience: $50,000-$60,000


Position Summary

The Advocacy Program Manager leads the strategic growth, operations, and daily functions of Value Unconditional’s Advocacy Program, a program supporting victims and survivors of sexual exploitation, sextortion and sex trafficking in the Greater KC Metro area. This role requires a steady, relational, and solutions-oriented leader with a deep understanding of the complex needs of survivors of sexual exploitation, and the ability to confidently collaborate with law enforcement, hospitals, nonprofits, and crisis-response partners. The role will manage and support volunteer advocates, strengthen and expand community partnerships, and ensure that all services are delivered with excellence and in alignment with trauma-informed best practices.

The Advocacy Program Manager is responsible for leading VU advocacy initiatives, including but not limited to harm-reduction, crisis response and event-based counter-trafficking efforts. The ideal candidate brings both frontline experience supporting victims of exploitation and trafficking, and the leadership capacity to grow and refine a high-impact advocacy program. This individual must have an unwavering commitment to confidentiality and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all Advocacy Program activities, initiatives, and decisions are aligned with Value Unconditional’s vision, supporting the organization’s long-term goals and strategic direction.

  • Oversee all aspects of the Advocacy Program, including volunteer management, harm reduction strategies, partner engagement, and counter-trafficking efforts

  • Act as the primary liaison between Value Unconditional and local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, medical professionals, partner organizations, and churches.

  • Travel within the greater Kansas City metro area (up to 50%) for meetings, outreach, relationship development, client support, and operational engagement.

  • Actively participate in strategic victim advocacy efforts related to large-scale events

  • Build, strengthen, and maintain relationships with hospitals, nonprofits, crisis response teams, and law enforcement units involved in responding to sexual exploitation and trafficking.

  • Manage on-call dispatching of advocates during urgent client needs while implementing a structured volunteer schedule that ensures consistent and adequate coverage.

  • Recruit, train, develop, and motivate volunteer advocates; provide ongoing coaching in trauma-informed, survivor-centered best practices.

  • Maintain timely, thorough, and accurate reporting of all clients served, including demographic data, services provided, and client outcomes.

  • Ensure consistent and complete data entry in organizational databases and maintain records on advocacy services, volunteer activity, and community engagement.

  • Oversee harm reduction initiatives and partnerships, ensuring approaches align with ethical, safe, and trauma-informed standards for minors and adults.

  • Collaboratively engage in preparation, planning, and operational coordination for counter-trafficking efforts

  • Collaborate with internal teams to align advocacy efforts with organizational goals and ensure the delivery of high-quality support to survivors.

  • Engage in community outreach, educational presentations, public awareness events, and speaking engagements to increase visibility and understanding of the Advocacy Program.

  • Uphold strong boundaries, confidentiality, and alignment with Value Unconditional’s mission, values, and standards.

  • Help identify opportunities for partnerships, collaboration, and potential funding pathways to strengthen and scale the program.

  • Contribute positively to the team environment and support other organizational projects or duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • At minimum 3 years of direct experience working with victims of sexual exploitation, trafficking, sextortion or sexual violence.
  • Must be committed to operating in excellence and setting exceptional example of character, integrity and confidentiality.
  • Experience collaborating with victim-serving organizations, including nonprofits, hospitals, and law enforcement (required).
  • At least 3 years of management (strongly preferred)
  • Proven relationship-building experience with community organizations, agencies, and stakeholders

  • Demonstrated ability to implement and maintain high ethical and professional standards on a diverse team.

  • Strong organizational skills, including experience managing data, reports, and multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Volunteer management experience preferred but not required

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics.

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.
