Art As Mentorship was officially founded in 2017 by Enrique Chi, lead guitarist and vocalist for the Latin Grammy-nominated, Kansas City-based band Making Movies.
What began a decade ago as an after school music program for an under-served community, has grown into an organized network of international performing artists committed to guiding the next generation through the power of song.
The evolution of our Rebel Song Academy has been bolstered by our ability to virtually connect students directly with a variety of internationally recognized mentors, including Grammy, Billboard, and Austin Music Award winners and certified-platinum recording artists.
Art as Mentorship takes an innovative approach to exploring our young artists’ full potential through creativity, independence, and spontaneity, fostering their inherent sense of exploration and achievement.
Our curriculums are designed to guide participants through the entire artistic process, building life and career skills as we collaborate through music writing, recording, producing, and promoting — all consistent with modern industry practices. It is our hope that these skills will project the next generation forward on their personal path to creativity, knowledge, and self-discovery.
