About Us

Art as Mentorship’s (AM) mission is to empower young people to write their own success stories. Our year-round programs help underserved immigrant, Latinx and low-income young artists create their own vision for a successful life through access to world-class mentorship, real-world skill development, and mental health support.

Rebel Song Academy (RSA): 12-week songwriting program. Includes summer Ignition Camp and RSA Live! performances.

The LAB: Recording studios and multimedia projects providing RSA students transferable digital skills that can be applied in the real-world.

AMERI’KANA: Exploration of the BIPOC influence on American music via school assemblies and workshops, livestreams, podcasts, television/radio and Celebrate AMERI’KANA festival.

Led by five professional KCMO musicians, AM includes a network of music industry mentors, many of whom are world-class, Grammy Award-winning artists and industry professionals. These mentors inspire student artists to raise their voices and create original music grounded in their culture and personal experience.

We believe the future will be made brighter by enabling the healing qualities of music to unite us.
