Position Title: Treasurer of the Board of Directors
  
Overview of GIFTS TLC:
The mission of GIFTS TLC is to support NICU parents by providing resources to alleviate their financial burden, allowing them to focus on their infant's recovery. The organization envisions a future where preemie care is readily accessible, and parents receive both financial and emotional support. GIFTS TLC aims to create a positive and encouraging experience for parents in need, fostering a commitment to enrich and advocate for diverse backgrounds. Additionally, the organization provides care packages to offer relief and support during the stressful time spent in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

 
Role Description:
The Treasurer of Gifts TLC plays a pivotal role in the organization's volunteer Board of Directors, overseeing financial matters to ensure the effective stewardship of resources in alignment with our mission and vision. This position is instrumental in maintaining financial integrity, transparency, and sustainability, thereby enabling us to continue making a positive impact on individuals and communities in need.

Responsibilities
 
Financial Management: 

  • Manage and maintain accurate financial records, including accounts receivable, payable, and general ledger entries.

  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

  • Monitor cash flow, budget performance, and financial indicators, providing regular reports and insights to the Board.


Budget Planning and Oversight:

  •  Collaborate with the Board and Executive Director to develop annual budgets that reflect the organization's strategic priorities and fundraising goals.

  • Review budget proposals, financial forecasts, and expenditure plans, offering recommendations to optimize resource allocation and financial sustainability.

  • Monitor budget execution, track variances, and propose adjustments as needed to ensure fiscal responsibility and alignment with organizational objectives.


Fundraising and Resource Development:

  •  Support fundraising efforts and revenue generation initiatives to enhance the organization's capacity to serve individuals and families in need.

  • Provide financial analysis and guidance to inform fundraising strategies, donor cultivation activities, and grant applications.

  • Ensure accurate recording and reporting of donations, grants, sponsorships, and other sources of revenue.


Financial Reporting and Compliance:

  •  Prepare and present timely and accurate financial reports, statements, and analyses for Board meetings, donors, and regulatory filings.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and reporting requirements for nonprofit organizations.

  • Coordinate annual audits or reviews of financial statements, implementing recommendations to improve financial processes and controls.


Strategic Planning and Risk Management:

  • Contribute financial expertise to strategic planning processes, evaluating risks and opportunities to support informed decision-making and goal attainment.

  • Assess the financial implications of strategic initiatives, program expansions, and community outreach efforts, offering insights and recommendations to the Board and Executive Director.

  • Stay abreast of emerging financial trends, best practices, and regulatory changes impacting nonprofit organizations, and integrate relevant insights into organizational planning and operations.


Qualifications:

  • Related Experience in accounting, finance, or a related field (advanced degree or professional certification preferred).

  • Proven experience in financial management, accounting, or auditing, preferably within the nonprofit sector.

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret financial data and trends effectively.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and foster a culture of transparency and accountability.

  • Commitment to the mission and values of Gifts TLC, demonstrating integrity, empathy, and a passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
