Director of IT Business Relations & Solutions

RESPONSIBILITIES
 
The Director of IT Business Relations and Solutions plays a pivotal role in aligning technology services with the operational needs of the Foundation. This position is responsible for consulting across departments to understand business workflows, identifying opportunities for process improvement, and recommending the most effective systems, tools, and solutions to support strategic objectives. This individual acts as a key liaison between Technology and other teams, ensuring that solutions are thoughtfully designed, adopted, and successfully implemented.
 
In addition to providing high-touch, strategic support across departments, this role leads the development and implementation of project management standards and best practices to increase operational efficiency, clarity, and consistency in project execution across the organization.
 
Specific Responsibilities include:
 
  • Build strong partnerships across the Foundation by consulting with departments to understand their processes, challenges, and technology needs, and translating those into functional solution recommendations.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to staff, helping identify and implement systems or tools that enhance business operations, efficiency, and outcomes.
  • Lead efforts to assess and map current business workflows and recommend improvements that align with organizational priorities and user needs.
  • Collaborate closely with the Technology team and internal stakeholders to scope, prioritize, and deliver solutions that meet functional and strategic goals.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of Foundation-wide processes and key systems to offer relevant guidance on technology use and enhancements.
  • Facilitate discovery sessions, requirements gathering, and solution evaluations in partnership with departments and vendors.
  • Guide teams through the change management process, ensuring user adoption, training, and long-term effectiveness of new tools and systems.
  • Establish and maintain project management standards, templates, and tools to support consistent and effective project execution across teams.
  • Support project leads with coaching and practical tools to increase project clarity, collaboration, and timely delivery.
  • Provide hands-on project management support for key initiatives, ensuring delivery within scope, timeline, and budget while maintaining alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Promote a collaborative culture by bringing departments together to share learnings, streamline processes, and align on shared goals.
  • Support a community of practice around project management by offering training, mentorship, and sharing of best practices to build internal capabilities.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
 
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent years of experience. PMP or equivalent project management certification preferred.
 
Work Experience:: At least five years of management and leadership experience with at least seven years of experience in a business analyst, IT consulting, or solutions-focused role with a strong track record of enabling process improvement, system adoption, and project delivery in cross-functional environments. Proven ability to consult with non-technical users to evaluate tools and drive successful implementations.
 
Travel: This position may require minimal business travel.

  • Has extensive experience with process mapping, business analysis, and facilitation of requirements gathering sessions. Has proven experience and success in reliably and efficiently managing multiple projects, consistently, and accurately using project management skills, tools, and technology.
  • Possesses strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Learns quickly, can synthesize multiple sources of information, gains insights, and communicates clearly and coherently, distilling complex ideas into clear, concise, and actionable forms.
  • Prioritizes and multi-tasks effectively using excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail while working independently and staying connected with leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Maintains a calm and competent demeanor in uncomfortable or demanding situations, works well under pressure.
  • Possesses a passion for “doing what is right,” with unquestioned integrity, positive ethics, and values reflective of the Kauffman Foundation.
  • Has strong computer literacy skills, particularly with the Microsoft suite of tools in addition to strong knowledge of enterprise systems (CRM, ERP, collaboration platforms, productivity tools) and how they can support operational effectiveness,  and project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., Teamwork, MS Project, Asana, Smartsheet, Jira).

Salary Range: $100,000 and over
