The mission of the Women's Employment Network (WEN) is to help women raise their self-esteem and achieve economic independence through sustained employment.

Committees meet monthly to discuss several different areas of operations in the Waldo Community. Currently, the Waldo Area Business Association operates the following committees: Ambassadors, Marketing, Property, and Security.

Transformation Visitation Home (TVH) is a young, growing nonprofit dedicated to supporting families navigating the court system. We provide safe, welcoming spaces for supervised visits and wraparound services that strengthen family bonds, reduce trauma, and foster resilience. TVH is seeking passionate leaders to join our Board of Directors and help guide our mission as we continue to gain traction and expand our impact in the community.

The Sewing Labs is growing and thriving, and we’re expanding our board of directors. We’re especially seeking leaders with expertise in Finance, Fundraising, and Workforce Development to guide our mission of teaching the legacy of sewing for employment, entrepreneurship, and enrichment. We house the toy and doll collection of Mary Harris Francis and the fine-scale miniatures of Barbara Marshall. Located in the Historic Tureman mansion, the museum was founded in the early 1980s and has been brought to national prominence in recent years. Front Porch Alliance is a community organization that serves the ever-changing educational needs of the Eastside of Kansas City. Currently, we are seeking volunteers who can support day-to-day office functions in a receptionist capacity. While needs may shift depending on the current programming, responsibilities will include answering phones and general office support.

Since the Folly reopened in 1981, the Grand Lady of Twelfth Street has relied on dedicated volunteers to give their time and keep her shining. Today the Folly hosts over 100 performances a year and the demand for volunteers, both in the theater and the office, is higher than ever. If you wish to share in the common love of music, our history, or just desire to give back to the community in a historically relevant way, we invite you to join our team!

Help us out by assisting in the warehouse with various activities, including moving inventory from one part of the warehouse to another, assisting our furniture cleaning team with inventory rotation, accepting incoming donations, and more.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) are appointed by the judges in each county to advocate for the best interests of a child in foster care. CASAs meet with the child or children on a regular basis, consult with professionals, including the foster care workers, attorneys, and schools, as well as gather information from family members and foster placements. CASAs spend an average of 10-12 hours per month on their assigned case.

At CASA of Johnson & Wyandotte Counties, in-kind donations are crucial to providing children and families with the resources they need to thrive. One of the ways you and your group can help is by supporting or organizing a donation drive to support CASA’s mission.

Camps For Kids, a nonprofit working to ensure that Kansas City-area children have the opportunity to attend summer camp regardless of disability or financial disadvantage, seeks passionate people to join their Board. Social media experience would be a plus, but not a prerequisite. Join us and help share the wonders of camp.

The American Cancer Society's Kansas City Chairman’s Circle (CC) is intended to provide a diverse executive leadership forum for advancing the our life-saving mission. This advocacy includes assisting ACS staff by promoting program priorities and informing the public about ACS organizational priorities. Chairman’s Circle members will be asked to assist by advancing mission priorities, securing financial support, recognizing key contributors and building relationships with community leaders.

The Road To Recovery Volunteer Driver provides people with transportation to and from their cancer-related medical appointments. Drivers donate their time to help people with cancer get the lifesaving treatments they need.
